I'm just hoping they don't get a chance to trade Kesler before people realize his reputation is still living off of one playoff series 3 years ago.

No! I want Trotz to go to Vancouver. A lunchpail defensive minded coach given the reigns to a bunch of whiny offensive primadonnas is a recipe for epic disaster!

I hope at his press conference the media ask if he will be taking part in this years draft. Curious to see if Boston puts any conditions.

Looks like Linden signed their 5th round Defense men Anton Cederholm.
Quote:
Vancouver, B.C. - Vancouver Canucks President, Hockey Operations Trevor Linden announced today that the Canucks have signed defenceman Anton Cederholm.
Cederholm, 19, spent the 2013.14 season with the Portland Winterhawks (WHL), collecting 16 points (4-12-16) and 95 penalty minutes in 71 regular season games. He added five points (2-3-5) and 16 penalty minutes in 21 playoff games, helping Portland advance to the WHL Championship.
The Helsingborg, Sweden native has represented his country on multiple occasions, including the IIHF World Junior U18 Tournament (2011.12 and 2012.13) and U17 Tournament (2010.11 and 2011.12).
The 6’2”, 204-pound defenceman was originally drafted by Vancouver 145th overall in the fifth round of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.

The guy's basically been living of the Nashville series for 3 years now. I don't know if he dives as much anymore, I honestly can't remember.

Hey, I like Trotz. Let some other coach have an epic disaster in Vancouver. There are plenty to pick from.

I think it is at least 90% higher that Jim Benning gets the GM job. I am sure he might steal some of the coaches from Boston or maybe name one of Boston assistant as HC.

Draft Pick

Bob McKenzie (per 'theScore') said that Doug Houda is a prime candidate for the coaching job. Makes sense, if Benning gets the GM gig.

Speculation on team 1040 in Vancouver that Boston won't release him prior to draft. Regardless he will have to overhaul the abysmal scouting dept. have to wonder if weisbrod resurfaces in Van given his ties to Benning in Boston.

Nah, everything is fine there. They already have elite top 6, a top 20 goalie, and a couple team Canada members. its all good.

Scouting was overhauled two years ago. Previous two drafts actually appear to be baring fruit but really it's a wait and see thing.

His Nashville series must have been pretty good then, to overshadow a 40+ goal Selke winning season so completely.
I think you can legitimately say his reputation is founded overmuch on one good season that he’s never going to repeat, but at this stage I don’t think anyone trades for the guy expecting him to win another Selke or finish top 5 in goals again. You’re pretty much getting a defensively responsible player with some injury risk who’s good for 25 goals or so playing 2nd line minutes, plus PP and PK.

Benning is a good hire. That seems pretty certain, based on his track record.
But is he a good hire for the Nucks right now? As a rookie GM, it would be nice to have some experience in the front office. However, the PHO is even more inexperienced than he is.
Time will tell, but there is definitely an element of risk to this hire.
