My thoughts exactly.

When you're picking in the top 5 - unless the winger is WAAAAAAY better (like Patrick Kane vs. Kyle Turris in 2007), draft the centre. It's a much more important position. Wingers can be game breakers, but unless you're deep and talented at the centre ice position - you won't be playing in games worth anything to begin with.

So in the draft year where it's built up as "Tyler Vs. Taylor", and Tyler is a centre and Taylor is a winger with no significant talent discrepancy on either side (and there wasn't), you draft the bloody centre.
