Looks like he's finally earning that A on his sweater. I would be happy to have him back on a 2 year deal, but not much longer than that. I think there's a big goal scoring drop off on this roster without him on the team.

Really is too bad we'll most likely see him walk for nothing. Had he played like this leading up to the deadline he might have returned us a nice pick or two.
He reminds me of Tanguay. When his confidence is going he's all world. But when his head's not in the game, man can he ever stink.

Playing for the next contract. I think he was expecting to do that on another team, probably in the playoffs as well.
Don't know what kind of Cammalleri the Flames would get if he signed a comfortable contract in Calgary. Such a big difference between pre and post-deadline play.

I think his head wasn't in it because he didn't think he'd be with the Flames. Must have been a reality check when Burke couldn't get a decent deal for him.
Now he's adding to his next contract and making himself desirable to teams in the offseason. I'd be very surprised if he stayed in Calgary.

Do some of you purposefully ignore the fact he was injured for an extended period of time and had to find his game again? Not every player is a selfish ###### who only thinks of himself.

Is it that surprising? It's probably hard to focus on hockey when you're wondering what city on the continent you're going to be living in tomorrow.

Wish he would leave it all out there every night, even for a team that likely isn't playoff bound..cause his play lately has been awesome. I hope this isn't just for contract and the attention of other GMs. I hope he actually wants to re-sign and help this team, because if all goes well with the upcoming influx of talent, if he stays and contributes we could see playoffs here much sooner than later.

I haven't called him selfish. It's just human nature. To me it's the simplest explanation as to why he turned his game around after the deadline.

Was it just me or was Simmer brutal tonight? I bet he got the players' name right 30% of the time.

He also said "at that point" at least 20 times tonight once again.

Kerr and Simmer are two of the biggest hacks in the business. They're brutal every night.

Yeah, so a guy suddenly plays lights out after the deadline and concussion symptoms end then. He didnt want to be extended then and nor does he now. He's never played at this clip in his career. He won't be in Flames silks next year.
Given a bit of thought, he still would have all this incentive to produce on a playoff team if he was traded, since it is his contact year. Scary to think what he could have produced with some elite players. A third round pick which was rumoured to be the return would have been a tough pill to swallow. Keep him around, as the biggest intangible, is that our GM won't be undersold/swindled.
The latter would have been the case. It's not all face value.

Thoughts on the game:
- Ramo stole the game for us, I think. Had a few beauty saves which kept us in the game.
- Lundqvist was NOT on his game tonight. He should have saved the CAmmy goal IMO; no traffic in front of him and it wasn't particularly a fast/hard shot.
- Didn't notice Monahan at all. Maybe the length of the season is finally hitting him?
- Colborne improves every game.
Great game, wasn't a pretty win but we'll take it!
