I'm sure Anaheim just didn't call up one team and offer them Penner.

No surprise that there wasn't much interest for a overweight lazy Penner no matter what he brings in the playoffs. He is always out of shape and has a bad reputation around the league for good reason. 4th round pick seems appropriate.

Ducks are clearing money for something else.

Penner & Fasth gone.

i'm sure they likely have plenty of lines in on a lot of the big name forwards that we are hearing (and not hearing) about in the rumour mill, and one way or another these moves will be equated to a big time name coming in for their top6 forwards.

I am really surprised the Ducks didn't make a move for an impact forward today.

The Ducks are a great team, but outside of Perry/Getzlaf they don't have any top end forwards, however they have great depth.

Talked about, but you have to think they were in the mix for Vanke/Moulson/Cammalleri ........ as a contender, you don't dump your top line winger for nothing going into the playoffs. Just makes no sense. Looks like time just ran out on them.

I am surprised that the Ducks really couldn't afford to give up a 2nd round pick and b level prospect for Cammalieri.

The wing depth is pretty weak on that team after Perry and Selanne and is losing that 2nd really going to hurt them going forward?

I know we often like to talk about how teams overpay at the deadline but at the same time with how little (I think something like 33% of the time) 2nd's turn out doesn't it make sense to take a shot in a year when you are the top team in the league and have an obvious need?

I think that the ducks were probably trying to clear up space and salary cap so that they could bring in someone like Cammy, Moulson or Vanek, but obviously that deal fell through.
