Was Baertschi the young player they were talking about at the end?

Get the feeling he didn't even want to do that one and would rather get back to work.

I only caught half of that, I assume you're referring to the "not waiting for anyone to catch up" part?

What was the full statement and lead up question?

I only really heard that the player was improving his 3-zone play and the point totals are coming.

I am not a Burke fan, yet. To me he hasn't done anything yet that deserves a better treatment than the beating Feaster takes here.

However, I did like his comments about the type of team he wants to build to get through the playoffs. That should calm the nail biters about Gaudreau not getting a chance. I also interpreted from his comments that Sven may get a call up once room is made in the top 6.

I thought his answers were articulate, and I am now a little hopeful he improves this teams assets over the next 24 hours. I am anxious for the collective to move on from regime comparisons and bashing, and on to praise for some moves just made. I know the results will never be unanimous, I just want to get rid of the dead horse stench in here.

Liked what I heard about cap space, salary retention etc.

I hope we are very active tomorrow but Burke tempering expectations by saying not much has happened

Did anybody hear what the question was that he replied he would have to think about it, and give an answer tomorrow?

For the bit on Sven Burke just said that he thought Sven has neither progressed or regressed this season. He said that his point totals and goals are disappointing for a guy with his level of skill. He did say he is learning things, like how you have to play in all three zones. When he was asked if their was a chance of seeing him up in Calgary he pretty much just said maybe. He mentioned if a bottom six player went down, they would pull someone up from Abby that could fill that bottom six role and vice verso.

Burke also mentioned that their is people in Abbotsford that he would like to look at but he limited by the CBA having a four recall rule.

I think it was the one where he was asked if there was another deadline he could remember like this one where there was a bit of a logjam for a certain player making it difficult for one to be moved. Referring to Cammy and how moving him is tricky with better valued scoring wingers available.

Burke said Sven's goal totals were dissapointing but he was learning how to play a 200ft game.

Sven scored again today and is heating up so we all have nothing to worry about...

The sooner Vanek and Moulson are flipped, the better things look for a Cammy trade.

I had to look that up. Was confused on how they played a Tuesday game already, was confused when hockey took up the baseball schedule. Sure enough, there it is, played @ 10:30 this morning. Holiday in the states?

In terms of salary retention he said the opposite. He did speak a lot about using the cap space available. Burke did say flat out that the Flames could act like a bank to teams up against it and requiring space to make another move

He said his offensive numbers were disappointing for a player of his skill but he's learning other things that will help him play in NHL - 3 zone play etc.

He said it was possible we'd see him up here this year, but if they needed a 3rd line player they'd call up a 3rd line type player, etc.

Nope. Feaster specifically mentioned they were not looking to retain salary. Which was freaking silly considering we were rebuilding and were a team that spends to the cap.
