Kudos to Latvia, they reached the magic number of 2 goals and Switzerland was finished.

Nice win for the Latvians. Who would have thought that Latvia and Slovenia would be in the quarterfinals before this tourney started.

Czechs win, Mezsaros was not happy with a late slashing call.

If Finland wins...wouldn't be pretty for the Russian players.

Very good chance of that if Rask stands on his head tomorrow.

Why does the best game always have to be on at 5:30? Damn it all, have to PVR it I guess.

Wow. Two teams get a cake walk (CAN and SWE) and the other two get to go to war really early (FIN, RUS ). I suppose I really should discount the Latvians against Canada or Slovenia against Sweden but those two teams winning would be considered failures of epic proportions and have jokes made of it for decades.

Russia/Finland is the game of the day. Going to be a really really good one.

Not sure how to read the Czechs yet, but the U.S should win. Should be an interesting one to watch.

why on earth would you pull your goalie on a penalty kill when you are only down a goal?

I am so glad all the Canada games are on at 10. I can listen to them at work instead of recording them and hoping I can get through the day without hearing the score.

Wouldn't be surprised if this was a 1 goal game.

Slovenia has impressed me all tournament and Sweden has been completely underwhelming in my opinion, had a tough time squeaking out a win against Latvia, not to mention injuries to a Sedin and Zetterberg

Really happy for Ted Nolan and Zemgus Girgensons!

Nolan can really get something out of nothing.

No, I agree.

However when compared to the likes of Mathias Bieber, Reto Suri and Dennis Hollenstein I think it may have been in the best interest of the Swiss to be able to string together somewheat of a talented first line.

To be honest, I am happy that he didnt go. He seems to have settled in Abbotsford now and maybe come to terms with the lengths he has to reach to get to the NHL. Who knows where his head would be at returning to Abbotsford dubbed an Olympian athlete.

Sweden vs. Slovenia
USA vs. Czech Republic
Canada vs. Latvia
Finland vs. Russia

This means Sweden vs. Russia or Finland and Canada vs. USA in the semi-finals. If Finland wins over Russia, my predictions for these semi-final pairing would be 100% true.

I did not see Latvia beating the Swiss. I don't think anyone did though.

Tough pairing for us against the US in the semi-finals. There will be blood...

Well so much for this unbeatable Swiss team that all the media was trumping up. I guess by tomorrow Latvia will be the new Canadian bugaboo.
