after most people probably spent a year thinking Doug Stamper may be dead and gone, looks like he may have a more prominent role this season than ever. Curious to see if he becomes a problem for Underwood or perhaps just more ruthless than ever.
Really slow pace to the first two, the show has barely left the White House and West Wing buildings. It's expected with Underwood being President that he can't just go out and about but watch I loved about the show was all the locations they used. Hope we see more then just Frank in the White House all the time.
Glad Stamper didn't die though, one of the best characters.
Hoping things speed up a bit, but these two episodes seem to be setting the stage for plenty of things.
Pretty disappointed in the 3rd season thus far. All the nuance and subtlety that made the show great is almost entirely gone and everything is spoon fed to appeal to the larger audience. The portrayal of the Putin character was almost laughable and disappointed to said to see the recycled "USA vs. big bad Russian bear" storyline rolled out.
I disagree. I think it seems to resemble the first season where the focus was much more on political dealings and not criminal activity. The number of holes in Underwood's transgressions, not coming back to bite him, was getting a little silly. That is how I am seeing it after 3 episodes anyway. The show took a dramatic turn when Russo died, and I am still not sure it was a good thing. There was a level of verisimilitude in the first season that disappeared when Underwood went Tony Soprano.

I thought it was a great season of television, maybe looks subpar because of how brilliant S1 and S2 were. Maybe too much of the focus was on Doug, but that'd be my only real complaint.
Really enjoyed Season 3. Like the comeback story from Doug (love how he turned around and killed the girl) and how the season ends in the primary. Sets up a Season 4 with Frank against a hard Republican challenger and Claire gone. Very intrigued to see what is next.
I don't mind if it's more politics and less mafia, I actually enjoy that. We're all at different points so its hard to explain but it seems very disjointed so far. There have been uninteresting characters introduced, some who are flat out boring, dull.
Spoilers for up to Chapter 34
Good quality characters are seemingly swapped out willy nilly, the Republican leader was up and changed. I get that those things happen but he was a good foil for the Underwood's and wham, he's gone. The reporter was seemingly removed so someone who is supposed to be more hardened but comes as across as annoying.
The story and characters just aren't as strong.
I'm enjoying it but it hasn't sucked me in life the first two seasons.
Not as much of a fan of this season. I especially didn't like how it ended. It didn't have the same tension or hard resolution as the ending of the other two seasons, just kind of left it open.
The most enjoyable part for me was

when Dunbar absolutely ripped Sharp and Underwood apart in the debate. I was hoping she would win.
I hope we don't have to wait forever for another season. Not a great resolution to this one.
It's a bit weird, but maybe but put episode specific spoiler tags around your post MattyC. The Netflix model of dumping all episodes at once means we're all not up to the same point.
Thought the season was a little disjointed. I liked the writer Claire / Frank investigation of their relationship and thought that could have happened earlier. The Doug / Rachel thing was a little boring and could have been wrapped up earlier. Essentially all it needed to show was the only person left loyal to Frank is Doug and the Comm guy.
Really liked Reme and Sharp this season and their turning on Underwood followed by Claire leaving him.
For me the first 6 to 8 episodes wasted a lot of time but the last 5 or so pulled it together. Not as good as season one or two but a pretty good show. Like how people just started to call out Underwood on his bull####.
I enjoyed the debate, loved Underwood just selling Sharp out and Sharp being Naive that she mattered to Underwood. I also liked the transformation of Dunbar from eithical atourney general to politician willing to do anything to win.
I wish netflix would change their binge model. Maybe do 3 episodes a week and release it over a month. I like being able to discuss a show while it occurs instead of not being able to talk to anyone because we are all at different points. If they released 3 episodes every Friday it would be reasonably safe to discuss spoilers on Monday from the previous episodes.
The Amworks as policy is pretty interesting and I remember a republican on the daily show talking about it as an alternative to raising minimum wage and medicare benefits. You subsidize a business to create a job and provide health care benefits so the government is only on the hook for part of the expense instead of the whole thing. So in theory it creates more jobs instead of a minimum wage increase which in theory reduces jobs or raises prices.
Of course it also discourages innovation and efficiency as the government is paying some of the costs so automating a process costs more.
Really enjoyed Season 3. Like the comeback story from Doug (love how he turned around and killed the girl) and how the season ends in the primary. Sets up a Season 4 with Frank against a hard Republican challenger and Claire gone. Very intrigued to see what is next.
RE: Doug
Spoiler!
He didn't kill her though. Didn't he just let her go? Or did I miss something?
