I don't follow Curling too much...but I remember Martin and Kleibrink. How does Jacob's team compare? I've noticed the ability to throw run backs accurately, but I really don't know much else.
Martin back in 2010 was about as dominant a team as there ever has been in curling (Glenn Howard was the only team near them). Kleibrink was an above average team that got hot at the right time to win the Trials. I'd say Jacobs is a stronger team relative to their competition that Kleibrink or Cheryl Bernard and definitely better than Mike Harris when he made the Olympics back in 98. The one thing the Jacobs team lacks is experience - they won the Brier last year and came second at Worlds but that's really the only international experience they have. Personally I'd make Sweden's Niklas Edin the favorite right now with Jacobs second. Normally I'd put Norway third but they've also struggled this week so it's tough to say between them, Great Britain and China.

They're doing seeding run 2 now, for the the bottom 12 spots. Top 12 including the 2 canadians are through to the next round (quarters? semis? not sure). Seems like a snoozer for the next hour or so.
Just got home from a friends birthday and turned on the TV and saw Hudec won a bronze! That is absolutely huge, and completely unexpected (from me at least), so happy for Canadian Alpine Team.
Maelle Ricker is in QF#2 and Maltais is in #3. Maltais' heat is tougher but they should both be able to move on if they stay on their feet. 30 minutes until the quarter-finals begin.

What happened to Ricker after she fell? Did the fall cause her to miss a gate or did she just quit the race? Since 4 other boarders fell on that jump did she not have a slight chance at getting top 3 if she kept going?
Congrats to Maltais though, that was a nice run. Hopefully she makes the final.
