I really don't understand the locker room thing. If I'm changing in a locker room, and one or two guys have wandering eyes, it really makes zero difference does it?

You're in a group of men, someone might see your junk, I don't think that their opinion of your junk really has any effect on the locker room vibe.

Gays are know to be more promiscuous, that is a proven fact. If they are in a room of swining junk they will not be able to control themselves..........you can't argue the point......

Right, and that seems sensible. So why don't men and women just change together? I mean once you get to a certain age you've already seen this stuff anyway, and of course wandering eyes don't matter.

I'm being facetious, but at the same time its a similar issue.

I think it's funny that people fixate on the gay athlete in the locker room, but they seem to forget other professions that could affect them directly.

People don't make a stink about doctors possibly being gay, and they see you naked and have you in compromising positions all the time.

You've been in a locker room and a doctors office right? I can't quite put my finger on it, but there is a subtle difference in atmosphere there!

The thing is that we separate men and women on the basis of sex and certainly sexuality; so the homosexual issue seems like a gray area. There are a lot of people, not homophobes, who might be uncomfortable having gay people in the locker room based on the potential sexual connotations. I don't know that this means they're homophobic or discriminating though? Is it a question of maturity, where a guy could say "I don't want someone checking me out in the shower", or is that a level of personal comfort that is to be expected?

I hope that this comes across as intended, which is to say that I don't have any issues with gay people whatsoever, but I can see the potential issues it could cause for a franchise. I'm not sure how that should be dealt with because the other side of the coin is that you undoubtedly have gay people who are fantastic athletes.
Are you that narcissistic to think that if a gay person sees you naked in the change room that they are just overcome with desire and have no decision to just jump your bones right then and there? Come on.....

But that would even make my point more valid, a locker room is like 30 guys, a doctor is 1 on 1. You would think homophobes would be more worried about being 1 on 1 with a gay doctor rather than having X number of gay guys in the locker room.

But nope, let's worry about the locker room because we are macho men and gay guys shouldn't play sports.

Maybe you just have gas......

I fail to see an ulterior motive to this, beyond wanting to live his life openly and freely.

Him and his father aren't close. He says when he goes home to visit he stays with friends or his aunt.

I hate people using that argument.

They're men, they aren't women. They're men. Those two scenarios have nothing in common. Don't say you're being facetious and then say "but seriously!".

Did you read the part where I said I played sports for years and assume some people I played with were/are gay and it didn't concern me? I personally have no issue, but that doesn't mean that no one else can feel uncomfortable in that scenario?

Ya and that seems fair. So whats the difference here? I mean obviously the different equipment, but aside from that factor, wandering eyes don't matter right?

Right, but what do "some people" think is going to happen? Why would they be uncomfortable?
