Here's hoping, but it's the ridiculous love/hate this board has that's put me where I am on Backs.

Huh? You form your opinion based on what everyone else thinks instead of actually watching hockey?

I suppose that should've been obvious now that I think about it.

Well, actually watching Backs first 3 seasons....never understood the love. Stats didn't show the love, the trips to IR didn't either.

CP gave him the keys to the city almost immediately. I know this had a lot to do with not having any prospects for give/take 12 years (minus Dion) but wow.

There's still hope, he's showing some signs, but he's far from a 2C as of yet. I've said clear, there is no chance he can be a bottom 6er in this league.

Best player on this team?!!?! Wow. No. No. No!

Injuries have happened, vets have been slumping and they've moved some parts around. Colbourne (the better centre) has been playing wing, this has allowed Backs to get more ice time equal to what he had at the beginning of the season (minus Stajan). When everyone had hope, he was invisible. Now that the flames are eliminated, he's showing more. If he wants to be a top player on this team, he has to be more consistent, beginning with Game #1.

I have to agree, Backlund has improved a LOT but he's not the best player on the team.

I really hate how CP acts towards some of the Flames players and staff...

The team is losing, everyone sucks, coach sucks rebuild is a rebuild and it takes time so stop having such high expectations.

The team wins 6 games in a row and the coach deserves coach of the year

Player goes on a hot streak after being very average at best and he's the best player on the team.

You have the cause and effect wrong here. Colborne is playing the wing because he has been outplayed by Backlund at centre since November, and they want him playing more than 4th line minutes.

I'd say Backlund's stretch his has put him just behind Gio as the best on the team. That may not be the way it's supposed to be, but on the ice that's what it is.

There's nothing wrong with Back's being our best player...

Right now I'd say Backlund's overall potential is a higher end 2nd line center. Our team is currently full of 2nd/3rd line players so if Backlund is the best of the group that is a good thing. He is at an age where he should springboard his career to where we always thought it could go. He will get opportunity so if healthy he should continue trending up.

We have some young NHL talent up the middle that is developing in Monahan and Backlund that makes me confident with the future.

Derailed at Post #40 bringing up Glen X, he then got called out and thanked for hating, I then got called out about backs...without mentioning him.

Chris O Sullivan showed up from his hidey hole. Even in a thread no where near Backs name his/her pushes the anti Backs propaganda. like CPs version of Valdimer Putin.

Your obsession with Backlund is actually like springs1. Seriously.

Used to read CP for many years (including when Backlund was drafted) and nobody on this board gave him the "keys to the city." Nobody. Except maybe Chris Lindberg, and he didn't exactly reflect the majority.

It's like you're fighting this crusade against people who don't exist. It's strange.
