I think some people need to calm down a bit. No where has it been said this guy is a shoe in for the Flames roster (its why he has a 2 way deal not a 1 way) or that he is the "best PWF not in the NHL".
If this is true and not just a rumor it is very likely that Wolf s being brought in to play on the Heat since 1 or 2 of the big guys there will be moving on or up with the big club. Burke has said on many occasions that he wants developing players (which normally refers to players in the AHL) to be surrounded with some big bodies through their development. With Johnny (hopefully), Grandlund, Sven and Klimchuk all stepping into that development roll its nice to have a 4th liner on the AHL squad that has the job to make them feel safe.
I know, I left him there to point out to the few who are worried about a contract being wasted that there are plenty of fringe players that have been wasting contracts, its about replacing them with new blood...

While I don't disagree with your post, the two way contract means very little. Under the CBA Wolf would have to sign a 2-way ELC deal regardless if the Flames plan for him to be a full time NHLer or not.
Does anyone know anything about DEL contracts? IF it were in fact true that he had signed/plans to sign, would there be stipulations in his contract that he can't announce it or flat out can't do it.
I guess put simply, what would stop him from announcing this move immediately IF it had in fact happened.
Also, yay, new blood. I'll note that I don't have regrets about Cervenka, they tried it, it didn't work, everyone moved on and we didn't give anything up (except owners money and a roster spot I suppose).

Exactly. I would be more worried about a 2way deal with a European out clause or a verbal agreement to give him a roster. Both of which I believe Cervenka had.

According to the 2nd article I posted he has a "buy out" clause in his DEL contract and he is hoping to finish out this season with his current team.
Maybe he is denying it till the buy out occurs which he doesn't want to happen until the season is over.

Simply put because it's not signed.
I can say with almost 100% certainty that Wolf has not signed with the Flames. In fact I am sure he is not even allowed to talk to the Flames about a contract right now.
Not because I have any inside sources, but because he is not allowed. I am pretty sure the DEL falls under the same IIHF rules that the SEL does. The same rules that stated we could not discuss a contract with Tim Erixon until after his club season was done (and longer if he commits to the world championships)
This is why he would have to deny it.
