Trouba is an absolute stud. Jets are looking good with him and Scheifele.

What were the Oilers doing on that last goal? How do you leave Trouba all alone in front of the net like that?

Belov made the Olympic team? Enjoy your non-medal, Russia.

Belov and Petry are not NHL-calibre defensemen.

Petry is absolutely brutal. Yet he's supposedly a top two dman according to clueless Oiler fans.

Yeah the Jets do have some nice pieces in place. I do believe the coach was holding them back somewhat so they should start to improve now they have a legitimate NHL head coach.

Not only did Wheeler make Petry look like a peewee defender on the spinorama, but Petry's clearing attempt was absolutely hilarious.

Same fans who think Smid is a bottom-pair defenseman. They are not good at evaluating hockey players.

Think MacLean realizes no one listens to his anecdotes? Most of all a group of 7 and 8 year old kids.

Th e final score is 5-4 for the Sharks. The Irwin goal has been changed, Pavelski gets credit for the game winning goal and that is a natural hattrick for him in the second period. What a game, St. Louis gets four goals and the natural hattrick with his family in attendence and as mentioned Pavelski with a natural hattrick. That is a rare event.

David Staples of the Edmonton Journal.
4. The Oilers don’t have any glaring needs. With Schultz, Ladi Smid and Jeff Petry, the Oilers have three outstanding-to-solid young d-men to build around, so the notion of trading for expensive Dion Phaneuf or less proven Jake Gardiner isn’t enticing. In Montreal, P.K. Subban is going to have a large price tag, too, and I know this will mark me as an Oilers fan, but I don’t love Subban’s game more than Petry’s game, certainly not when you factor in Petry’s low contract. Winnipeg has the likes of Dustin Byfuglien, Zach Bogosian and Tobias Enstrom, but you don’t trade a first overall pick for those kind of pieces. USA star d-man Jacob Trouba? That’s an interesting name raised by Ralph, but not in a Yakupov trade. Young d-men take forever to develop and are far more uncertain quantities than young forwards.
Trade Nail Yakupov? Not if you want to win a Stanley Cup. | Edmonton Journal
