haha, for those who recognize the insanity that is "Eklund"... from todays hockeybuzz blogs:
Matt Henderson: Oilers Trade Dubnyk To Nashville
HockeyBuzz.com 12:35 pm
The Oilers have traded Goaltender Devan Dubnyk to Nashville in exchange for Center Matt Hendricks. The Oil part ways with an underperforming UFA goalie and pick up a 4th line center who is signed for another 3 years. *Check back later for more thoughts on this trade*
Eklund: Source, "Oilers had to move dubnyk fast." Checking on Cam Ward rumors.
HockeyBuzz.com 12:42 pm
More to come..l
Bravo.

I didn't think anyone cared about Eklund anymore. He really hasn't been relevant since Sportsnet embarrassed themselves with that whole shadowy figure junk in ... when was that? '09?

I've only been following hockey for around 5 years now (give me a break, I come from Australia), but people have always told me that Edmonton once were a really good team.
I'm just not sure if I believe it anymore? How? When?

Has sebC still not figured out the goalie stats are usually swayed so much by team play that they don't really prove anything?

That explains the crappy dubnyk trade. A third round pick seems like a steal for scrivens

Todd Marchant scored a nice goal in OT once.
That's about it.

He did play well on the Leafs.

So Bryzgalov is not the answer? Is Scrivens really better than Dubnyk and Bryzgalov? Not convinced. Seems like a lateral move...and one that cost them an early 3rd round pick.

Be interesting to see if Scrivens actually moves to Edmonton or keeps the beach house. There is less than 3 months left until golfing season and he becomes a UFA.

so now goaltending wasn't the problem after all? funny how now that Dubnyk is gone, he was actually pretty good
you watched Oilers games this year, he let in a soft goal a game...it started in the season opener against Winnipeg
this is a good trade...3rd rounders rarely pan out and if they do, it's 3 or 4 years down the road
all we need is average goaltending and he'll be a huge upgrade over Dubnyk

Poor guy, he goes from a team where playing goal for them is equivalent to a military desk job in terms of activity
To
By the end of the year he'll be like

I think that the goaltending as a problem has been really exaggerated by the Oiler fan base. I watched several games where Dubnyk and Bryz were keeping the Oilers in the game where they were allowing a huge amount of high end scoring chances.
Unless the Oilers address that bad system and lack of talent on the blue line they could put Bernie Parent in his prime in their net and he would have a terrible GAA and svpct.
