I think the Olympic Team executives are trying to outsmart themselves. Sometimes the better players are worth taking for the simple fact that they are the better players. Look at our World Junior team. The top guys couldn't get any goals and there was not enough depth behind them to step up.

Vrbata didn't make it? Wow. One of the most underrated players in the game.

How in the hell do they leave Hudler off but bring in Hemsky? What the hell are they thinking?

No Vrbata, wow that's insane. He's been the best Czech goal scorer the last few years. Way worse selections than the American team. Wouldn't be at all surprised if they finish behind the Slovak's and even the Swiss.

Yeah, all those years playing on Stanley Cup contenders has really made the Czechs question Hudler's commitment to the game.

Elias was just put on IR. I am not sure how bad his injury is but I wonder who goes in his place if it is.

I think even worse is that Hejda isn't on the team, since D is our weakest position. Seems that Hejda and the coach don't get along and I believe there is past history with Hudler and the coach/national team.

This would almost be equivalent to us leaving Perry and Tavares off the team tomorrow.
The Czechs clearly did not take the best available players, Vrbata is a snipe show and Hudler is very smart & skilled..

The European teams will never learn...bring KHL players and get your asses kicked. Why bring anyone from a 2nd tier league (at best)
too bad for Hudler but as a team Canada fan I hope they never change

It absolutely ludicrous that Jiri Hudler didn't make this team. Insane.

Yeah Vrbata is an even bigger snub than Hudler IMO.

Were they aware that these guys are from the Czech Republic?
Was someone carrying a pile of papers with all of the eligible players listed when he tripped and fell and a couple of the papers fell under a heavy cabinet?
Maybe they let the Green Fairy pick the team.

Ugh, international hockey is ######ed. The reason NHL teams have checking lines is because they don't have enough available talent/cap space to ice 4 top line caliber lines.
It was this kind of thinking that led to Canada's Olympic disaster in Turin and the latest WJC loss. Bring the BEST players, it's not hard!
Czechs will be a disaster at this tournament.
