I'm hoping by sending him down that Burke is willing to let him develop if baertschi is traded it would suck

I dunno... I hope it works. I personally haven't had any problem with Baertschi's game. He works his ass off on the ice most nights... still a little inconsistent though I suppose. I hope he can rip it up on the Heat!

For the rest of the year? I really, really hope he isn't down for that long.

Ugh..........Baertschi had a good game against boston too, blew right past Chara. I really hope they don't trade the kid, if so this is going to be depressing.

This move does not indicate that Sven is being traded, whatsoever.

It seems like we're going to build a team of Lance Bouma type players - limited offensive skill but they run around and "have energy". We'll be a team that "works hard" - because we don't have enough skill to actually do anything once we get the puck.
Hopefully he finds his offense in Abbotsford, but I think he's as good as done as far as the Flames are concerned. I'm betting he'll be a throw-in on a trade in a couple months, probably with one of our pending free agents.

I don't know why people always misconstrue competing with being big. You can be small yet still compete, see Kris Russell and Paul Byron.
The fact is that Sven loses more one on one battles for the puck than he wins. He has to realize that's it not okay to lose a battle for then puck just because you are smaller, you have to figure out another way to win the puck.
When Patrick Kane has the puck, he doesn't give it up easily despite his size. That's what Sven needs to learn, he can't use his size as a crutch.
I wish someone would keep track of stats on puck possession battles cause it'll be interesting to see how Sven does.

Sven needs to get his confidence back. It should have happened earlier this season.

The only good thing I see from this is it gets him away from Hartley the destroyer

Sven should've started the season in the AHL. As Burke said, once you've made a decision, there's no sense delaying it.
Perhaps this was part of the reason Feaster and Weisbrod got the heave?

So far Sven's career reminds me of Kadri's to this point. I doubt this will be bad for Sven and I also doubt it means he's going to be traded.

Would like to see Sven on a line with Granlund and Ferland and see if they can build chemistry together and possibly bring them all up together as a line next year.

One word: Finally! He's not NHL ready. I really really doubt they trade him. He just needs to develop a bit more and maybe add some physicality to his game.

agreed.
hudler/cammalleri are solid guys he should be watching. how to be effective, and not get physically dominated and kept to the outside due to size.
