^I think it's possible to disagree with someone without being a dick about it. Not saying you are one but some of the responses to the original post in both this thread and others definately classify as dickish.

In fact, if the thread was made as a joke, then the initial reply is the highest form of compliment the thread could receive.
5/5.

The benefit is that it raises the standard.
Most people are not averse to being controversial. They are averse to being wrong.

Raising the standard would be not making threads that are actual jokes, passed off as a legitimate question.

4th in scoring among forwards on the Bruins and leads the team in plus/minus. Please go troll somewhere else.

He is 100% correct. The only reason that Iginla would be on the team is as a legacy pick, which Torino showed was an awful way to pick a hockey team. At this stage Iginla isn't a good enough hockey player to justify being on team Canada and saying that he is the fourth best point producing forward on his NHL team isn't good enough for team Canada, especially when he has 15 points in 28 games, which is a 43 point pace.

Cammy is not an elite NHL player, although he has shown in the past he can be super clutch. He is a first line winger. Team Canada? No. To make that roster you have to be elite.

Ne he's 100% wrong. Saying a guy with 2 gold medals would bring nothing to the team is idiotic.

How ironic this is your stance after what you posted in the Giordano team Canada thread. How hypocritical.

You're kidding, right?
Iggy has been in a steady decline since 08-09.
He is no long a PPG player. He can't do it anymore.
There is no way iggy gets even close to ice at sochi.

He'd be trying to beat out Stamkos, Perry, St. Louis, Getzlaf etc for a spot in the lineup. I don't see this happening.
Canada is known for its tight checking, physical play. While Iginla in his prime was a shoo-in for this brand of hockey, he's no longer as physically able as the other younger elite Canadian wingers.

Wow, you're kidding right?
Where did I say he goes to Sochi? I said.saying he would bring absolutely nothing to the team is idiotic. He could bring leadership and some points.

Iginla has been awesome in Boston, he's playing the Boston brand of hockey, points aren't everything.

Is that stat supposed to help your argument? That's actually quite disappointing.

This thread is a joke. Some people really need to take a step back and look at other teams before saying how great our team is or how good some of our players are. I love the Flames but some people around here view this team as being the best team with the best players who are doing bad because of luck or bad bounces.
I know I'll be accused of being to negative but I don't think the Flames have any real "elite" players, they have players that would do really well on other teams where they didn't have to be the best players but that's it. To suggest that we have anyone who should make one of the best teams in world (Canada) is a bit of a joke.

Only if you don't understand hockey and realize points aren't everything. He leads the team in plus/minus and is playing a team game.

Perhaps you misunderstood the real message behind the statement?
Iginla would bring absolutely nothing to that team (that multiple other players couldn't bring better or more of).

I'm not watching him play, I'll admit that
The point you brought up, is that he's "4th in scoring amongst Bruins forwards"
For Iggy? that sucks.

It only sucks for Iggy because he's been on the Flames and he's been their go to guy. On the B's he doesn't have to be the go to guy and he's still 4th in scoring for them. The B's have a good team and he's still doing well on that team and his +/- is the best on that team. He's doing well because he doesnt' have to be "the guy" on that team
