Oil Change will dedicate an entire season to this one win, I'm sure.
I like that the Oilers are getting all cocky about this now. They are totally going to go on a 10 game streak now....and then fall right back down to earth and start all over again.

They act like this now... I can't imagine the cockiness if they actually won something.

No offense but can you honestly say you wouldn't feel a little bit cockey if the Flames won it all?

Suprised the Media hasn't hopped on this. Yakupov went for a skate-athon around rexall after being named 2nd star. He was doing a one handed helicopter with his stick and almost knocked the camera right out of the hand of the on ice camera man. Fata-ing crazy.

Everything is falling into place coilers, don't change anything. You might want to put some serious thought into a parade route, planning is important.

Varlamov had a solid game for the Avs...frustrating the 'Hawks some...Bickell crashed the net early, and left the game, dragging a leg...Hossa didn't dress, yet, for some odd reason, Q keeps playing Brookbank at RW on the THIRD line, basically putting the 'Hawks down 3 forwards. Q also keeps trotting out a 4th line plow horse, Bollig, on the PK that already struggles, I guess Q doesn't want to rush any of the guys at Rockford, or Morin has really ticked Q off...Crawford had a bad start, and rook Annti Raanta gets an NHL debut in relief...but, for my guys, it ends up a 5-1 road loss to a decent team...Simply move on in the 7 game road trip.

Saw that too, guys attitude is awful. I'm with Don Cherry when it comes to this, it's going to come back and bite him in the ass, and/or just make him a target.
Just makes me happier to have a mature kid like Monahan. Does just seem to be a Russian thing though, look at Ovechkin and Anisimov's early celebrations

Okay, there were 2 SHUTOUTS on the OOT. Nashville's rookie goalie gets his 1st career SHUTOUT stopping 27 shots in the 2-0 win over Detroit. Then Dubnyk gets the easy 14 save shutout in the Oilers 7-0 win. Bobrovsky gets pulled after 4 goals. The Bruins beat the Rangers 2-1 in reg time. Rask was awesome as he faced 44 shots in the win. Thornton scores and Paille gets a SHG for the Bruins who managed only 22 shots. Brassard scored for the Rangers. There were 3 games where the final score was 5-2. First off, the Kings win their 4th in row as they beat the Lightning. Scrivens continues his hot play in net for the Kings and LA scored a SHG. The Flyers beat the Senators again. That disputed no goal looked like it was in for the Sens. There was a SHG by the Flyers but that was the empty netter. Lastly, the Leafs beat the Islanders and Bernier was the star as he faced 37 Islander shots. Other scores, the Sabres scored 10 seconds into the game but then it was lights out after that. The Blues win on the road, 4-1. A natural hattrick for Pacioretty in the Habs 4 goal outburst in the 2nd period. Habs crush the Wild 6-2. The Bhawks sure got spanked by the Avs, 5-1. Avs 3 game losing streak is over. A big LOL to the stupid Canucks. Tim Thomas has the Canucks number in Rogers Arena. The Panthers win 3-2 in the SO. This current Canucks 6 game home stand is turning out to be a disaster.

^cheer up, the pace they would have to play at, to make the playoffs, may as well be 100% winning percentage.
Hell even the playoff teams can't afford to lose 3 in a row.

I know everyone wants the oilers to lose every game but I'll come out and say I don't. I don't want them to get really good draft picks every year because that's just ruining a really good hockey player. I want the oilers to be a 10-13 place team in the west for a long time. We were like that and it sucked. I want the oilers to win games but just enough to keep them out of the playoffs but close enough that they'll give up value for instant help that just isn't enough. I don't care if they do better than the Flames because for the next few years I'm thinking a lot of teams are going to do better than the Flames. At this point, I only care about the Flames and them getting the best possible players and building properly.

You guys all realize that hockey is entertainment right? And by how poorly, and bad the oilers are if I was a fan of theirs and they finally won a game big I would be happy they play it up some and get the fans going.
I highly doubt this changes any fans perspectives for that team. Not that anyone on this board really has a good handle on what most fans over there feel anyways.

Canucks on a 5 game slide where they can't score goals. Their season is going exactly the way I thought for them.

isn't it great; the nucks are sliding to just out of the playoffs where hopefully they stay for the rest of this year and the next few years and the oilers are climbing to around the same spot. I would prefer both of those teams being 9-13 for a long long time.
Even though we're doing bad, things are looking up!

I don't see the top 8 in the west playing so hot for the rest of the season and I think the nucks pick it up. I still see them in the dance though. Probably a 6/7 seed IMO. The 8th place team is 13-5-4, which is a 112 point pace. It will not take 112 points to make the playoffs in the west when all is said and done

And right there is the problem. Those can't be your two main weapons and expect to make the playoffs.

I had them on the bubble to start the year but then Phoenix, Colorado, Dallas appear to be on the upswing and the Canucks are going to struggle to maintain their pace. Their core is the same group that got them to the finals in 2011 but the supporting cast is weaker, best players are past prime, and their best prospects are 18 and not ready to contribute
