Let's just not through rookie goaltenders or other young players under the bus. The 3rd goal was bad, but goaltending won't be a difference maker for this team.

WTF does that even mean? Have you watched the Oilers at all this year? I hate everything about this post.

Unacceptable. Atrocious. Embarrassing. The Oilers aren't in the Flames class as the first two periods showed.
And even worse, Ference pushed around Stempniak with no response outside of Wideman. How Ference doesn't get an instigator is flabbergasting but the Flames need to make him or his teammates pay.

Oilers fluked out big time...oh well
Oilers can be pumped all they want both teams are out of it. Being dominated by the Flames for 2 periods is nothing to write home about

The cbc's narrative that the oilers dominated the 3rd is bull. They got outshot and got two flukey goals.

For those that are defending Berra right now...look at the first goal...what the hell is he doing jumping out of the net out of position.... The third goal was just a facepalm.

I agree. By getting the kids up and investing the time in them the team would be doing the right thing. By keeping them in the AHL and playing guys with no future here the team is writing the year off and losing some development opportunities. Use the time to prep those kids for next season. That way you're not going into next season with 4-6 rookies.

Just me, but I feel like Hartley somehow needs some criticism here. Or maybe I'm just looking for a scapegoat for this mess.
|
If I were Hartley, I would have called a time-out after the third goal. IMO, the team needed to be settled down at that point.

Comparing a first overall pick in one year vs a sixth overall pick in another is a dumb comparison.

I don't know what irks me more, people throwing Berra under the bus for the Flames totally checking out on the poor kid or people who will now blame Hartley for probably farting on the bench.
|
The coach is part of the team, and coaching has been subpar. When you're 2-0 in the 2nd intermission, you should be telling your guys not to let off any steam. The Flames stopped skating as hard as they had been, the Oilers sensed that and started taking the play to them, and the rest is history.
Not a good game.

All of our goalies are terrible. That's not the complete reason we lost tonight, but it's part of the problem.
There's a reason Berra and Ramo were not in the NHL before this season.

This game went the opposite of the last 3-4 games. Started off strong and then stopped skating and let the Oilers take it to us. Berra needs to stop that third goal, a goalie of his size can't give a player the top of the net like that.
