It must be one of those long cons. None of us saw it coming and then BAM, out of nowhere, Butler goes against every ounce of good faith he had built up.

Bravo.

Hoo ray Butler -4. I feel bad for Brodie being forced to have this plague known as Butler as his partner the last few games as he has screwed Brodie's +- stats over.

I challenge Hartley and Feaster to bench Butler and see how much better they are without him. Smid should have all but replaced this no mind pylon that wears 44.
But no they bump this tool up to Brodies pairing.
See the results bozo's. Butler should be the lowest on the depth chart on the Flames.

Yep all the over the top optimists try so hard to find the good things in Butlers game. Even moreso than the Butler haters trying to find mistakes from what I can tell.

The guy is hot garbage, he really is. He's not an offensive defenseman, has no confidence in the defensive zone and loves to watch forwards make plays behind his net instead of take his man down..

The stats don't tell the whole story because Giveaway stats don't take into account the plays where Butler just passes it to the opposition when under 0 pressure in his own zone. This happens enough times every game for Butler to ensure the other team has more puck possession.

This isn't me seeing the number 44 on the ice and watching for him to make a mistake. I see a defenseman make a dumb dumb dumb play and instantly know it's Butler. Always look at the number afterwards in case it's the rare costly mistake that Brodie makes.

Can't stand the plays he makes or his dumb facial expression. He's not a prospect, his experience is of no use to the Flames and he won't be part of a winning flames team in the future. Get him out of here.

As a side note to the people who loved his 8 blocked shots, please analyze this a bit more. For one, blocking shots is not a hard thing to do. It does require dedication so good on him for that. No good defenseman would be in the position where he could physically make 8 blocked shots. That means he's constantly getting hemmed in his own zone and has to bail his goalie out.

Feaster should lose his job if he resigns his pal Butler again this offseason. Feaster don't even hesitate walk into to Burkes office and say i know i'm fired.

Burke is a pretty good evaluator of defensemen. I highly doubt Butler will be here long. The Regehr trade was a terrible one except for the fact it netted us Monahan.

Could it be that our expectations for Butler have reached so low, a shred of competence has left us amazed?

It's a magic trick. Butler's looked better of late because the rest of the team has been markedly worse. Or, at the very very least, have played to Butlers level making him look competent.
