I think of Taylor Hall as the Dion Phanuef of forwards. Dion looked amazing in his first 3 years in the league and his upside was perennial Norris candidate. He has all the physical tools to reach that potential but is just prone to some bonehead mistakes because he does not think the game at an elite level. Hall is very similar his speed, his shot, his determination are first class but he makes many boneheaded giveaways, and puts himself in situations where he will get hurt. When you listen to both Dion and Taylor talk they come across as compete morons in my opinion. If they had the brains to go with their physical abilities they would be all world elite talents. Both are top end players today but they have likely peaked in terms of production (I do think Hall has 35g, 70pt upside)

I still think Eberle is the best overall player of the 4. Doesn't seem to be the consensus opinion though.

Assuming the 70 pt is based on an 82 game season that would be the worst PPG he has had other than his rookie year so it seems like a very low "upside" to project since he is better than that already.

Eberle. Way smarter then reckless abandon.

Will have to put my vote in for Eberle. I think he has wicked offensive instinct both passing and shooting. RNH is a close second for me as he has a huge hockey IQ but his ability to stay healthy and his super tiny frame scare me a lot. As for Eberle, to me, 5'11 isnt that small and he's the only one that somehow stays healthy and has put up better numbers 34 goals/ 76 points previously because of it.

Yup, I wish we could poach him from the Oil. Good kid but keeps bad company...
Eberle provides something we don't have. RNH is a quality player, but I can't imagine him ever playing an 82 game season. Yakupov is someone I've never been a fan of, even before he joined the Scum. Let's get Hall out of that hellhole!

Hall and Hopkins are just an incident away from a career ending injury.
Too much prima-donna in Yakapov (but might have the best actual potential)
Leaves Eberle I guess.

Even Oiler fans can't seem to agree on which of the big 4 to keep in their re-rebuild scenarios. The only consensus is that Yakupov is as good as gone.
Which is convenient because Yakupov is the only one of the 4 I would take. And at this point, he's probably the only one MacT can move. He isn't a fan favourite, isn't the coaches favourite and doesn't have an immovable contract. He's currently the worst of the 4, but he's only 20. It's not too late to change his entitled attitude.

Hall is a good player, but does seem a bit... dumb.
RNH is also a good player with very good vision, but he appears to be made of glass and I can't see how he isn't out as much as he's in over the course of his career, however long that lasts.
Eberle seems like a bit of primadonna lately and seems to have lost the will to care. Maybe he bounces back in a new environment.
Yakapov is in the KHL in a couple years at the rate he's going.
I don't know, probably Hall since he's from Calgary. Not sure I like him for $6M a year though...

Tough to say. They all seem to have hurdles to overcome.
I would probably pick RNH if he could play a season without injury. Hall as well.
I'd probably take Eberle considering everything. We do need young RWs, especially since he is RH.

Based on what the Flames need, I'd take Eberle. The Flames need a guy that can carry the puck/dangle into the O-zone without turning the puck over.
He can score and has amazing vision.
Plus, he looks somewhat mentally ######ed, which is always good for a giggle.

Hall is the best of the bunch as of now. The whole Hall is dumb thing has really got out of control and has become a confirmation bias for fans league wide.
But I mean if I'm allowed to go outside of their big 4 I'd rather have Gordon, Ference or Smid. Oh wait.
