With the unrivalled ineptitude of Edmonton, the scorched earth rebuilds in Buffalo and New Jersey, and the proven ability and willingness of Florida and Carolina to tank on purpose, finishing bottom three will be a real challenge. I think Calgary finishes bottom 4-7 for each of the next two years.

The flames have kept all but 1 game close in the 3rd period. We have a chance to win every night which is all you can ask for with a young group as this missing key players since game 1.

I think you'll find most teams in the bottom third of the standings (except Edmonton, of course) are in most games. It's not as though bad teams get blown out every night in today's NHL. The Flames have a goals for vs goals against differential of -11. Among teams below us in the standings, the Jets have a -8 differential, and the Blue Jackets are -6.
