#1 Goaltender

The flames have a few options in the system to try at goaltending. This year needs to be devoted to assessing talent especially at goaltending. We know what bryzgalov is and does... Don't need him in the organization. The flames may have to be patient in the goaltending position for the next 2 years. Scouts are already praising Gillies as the next great young American goaltender who has the makings of an elite starter in the NHL.

That's brutal. Looking like the Ramo the Lightning saw way back when. Not sure why this guy can't translate his game to the NhL.
Bryzgalov is still looking for an NHL gig. Should the Flames consider him on a short-term (one year) deal?
Or do the Flames call-up Reto Berra, who has been pretty solid in Abbottsford?

Sorry, haven't read the responses on the thread, but did you seriously throw up Ramo's stats after 2 starts like they mean something?

Lundqvist is sitting at a 3.45GAA and .890SV%
We should be able trade MacDonald straight up, maybe even get a pick cause it's obvious by the stats that MacDonald is the better goalie.
And just say no to Bryz

Ramo DID face 9 powerplays last night you know. Not really his fault his numbers are bad.
Considering he stopped 2 (3?) breakaways and a penalty shot, I'd say he hasn't been bad.
Also, blame Butler

Can we hold off on sacking the goalies just a little longer?
It's not even November month yet. Why you have to be mad?

Ramo has been more impressive, imo.
been thrown to the wolves in both games, two of the best powerplay teams in the game, both games a combination of taking stupid penalties and bad reffing.
Doubt Flames would look to acquire another goalie before giving Berra a shot as he's been pretty good in Abby.

No. McD is solid, Ramo needs to be tested more, 2 games mean nothing. if he fails bring in berra, i really believe in this guy.

NO. That will beat the purpose of giving Ramo the chance to get used to the NHL. Ramo is the future starter for the Flames and Joey Mac is a good compliment to Ramo as he will try to push him to play better. Early this season Joey Mac plays more than Ramo does but that will change. Ramo will play more by the middle of the season. Bringing in Bryzgalov will reduce Ramo start.

Ramo's last game reminded me of Keenan era Flames when Kipper would have to stop a few breakaways every game

Well, the Flames are in a rebuild. During a rebuild you don't need a goalie to mask your deficiencies and win you games that you had no business winning. Besides, does anybody believe that Bryzgalov is that goalie?
If you want a franchise goaltender you should wait to acquire him when the team is ready to challenge for a regular playoff position, or at least hope that the goalies you are developing is ready at that time.

i'd rather try to get a young goalie through the draft or a young goalie through a trade

It is too bad that OP is getting jumped on, because that comment is flat out silly and deserves to be jumped on instead.
If Bryzgalov was remotely capable of coming up with a "Vezina trophy kind of season", he would have an NHL job right now.
Truthfully, Bryzgalov is not a better option than either Ramo or MacDonald. and OP is getting jumped on because of his panicky, dumb suggestion. Take Ramo, for instance. He's played TWO GAMES. And those two game against deep offensive teams in Washington and San Jose. And Ramo kept us in the San Jose game despite a litany of dumb penalties.

Surprised Michael Scott hasn't made an appearance in this thread yet....
First, there is no need to look for another goalie period. Ramo looked very sharp on Saturday. The biggest hole I saw from Washington was his play on in close dekes/breakaways. It was so bad to the point that when the penalty shot was called I muttered to my beer, welp, here's a goal. He obviously did some work because he was excellent on the penalty shot and all breakaways. Excited to see him play again in a game without 10 pks.
Bryz specifically, attitude is enough for me to say no thanks. This team is putting it all on the line, never say day every night. Why bring in a guy who has a history of quitting on his team.

Step 1: Demand Rebuild
Step 2: Rebuild Begins
Step 3: Freak out after losing games in a rebuilding season
Step 4: Demand signing everyone so we can make a playoff push (cause this is the year! (TM))
Step 5: Demand Rebuild
