Hertl has 6 goals in 2 NHL games at 19 years old. I think a little bit of optimism that the kid is good might be warranted. He's actually done something to prove it.

I was more or less pointing out that the Sharks have not had any decent prospects make their team in a while.

Sure, great couple games for him. 6 goals in 3 games does not make a career, he still has lots to prove, but he is a damn solid prospect.

Also Detroit has been overrated for years when it comes to their prospects.
Couture emerged as a hell of a 2 way centre.

I guess good teams just find ways to get good players.

Couture has been in the NHL since 2009 and was a top 10 pick.

So I had $130 riding on whether Joe Thornton would out score Brad Richards and when I saw the score as 9 -2 I assumed the money was already in the bank.

1 point out of 9 goals!!?? Eff you Thornton.

Hertl scored his 4th between his legs. Kid has got skills. I want to see a gif of that one.

Time will tell if the rest of the league catches up to him though. Can't say I'm not impressed. The next Selanne???

Ask Jumbo Joe to be a pallbearer at your funeral, so he can let you down that one last time.

A little off topic but what do some of the CPers think Yakupov could fetch as far as defenseman? I have a ongoing argument that he might be able to bring back a top 4 defenseman. I've been told by some other fools that he could fetch a franchise defenseman......

Yakupov could likely fetch a number 2 d-man that is 25-29 tears of age.

or

Yakupov could likely fetch a potential top pairing d-man that is 20-24 years of age.

No way he is getting a franchise defenseman if by that you mean a Weber, Pietrangelo, Doughty etc.

I think top end maybe a Phaneuf type but don't think Leafs will move him for a forward. Maybe someone like Marc Staal from NYR. Erik Johnson from Colorado but doubt they move him for a forward.

Hard to think of teams that would move a defenseman without taking one back.

A little off topic but does anyone know where I can get some good BBQ this time of night?

A friend said it was impossible to get great BBQ in Calgary this time of night but I've been told by some fools you can only get mediocre BBQ.

Nice skills, but I'm old school enough to think that you don't pull that move when your team is that far in front.

This thread will be gone in less then two days. Figured instead of starting a dumb new topic or derailing one that is actually useful, why not post it in here?
