Poirier has an assist after 1 period and sounds like he managed to impress a guy who thought he should go in the 3rd round:
Corey Pronman @coreypronman 10s Impressive period from CGY's Poirier. Certainly looked the part of a first rounder.

Bruce Luebke @wheatkingsvoice 9m
BTW, D Eric Roy has left the game for the @bdnwheatkings, presumably due to injury. Extent unknown. #bdnmb

Hope it's not serious. He's been on fire so far.

Wow complete collapse by Gatienau in the 3rd period... led 3-1 after 2, end up losing 5-3.
Poirier finishes with 1G 1A Even 3 shots on goal.

Just stat looking seems like
Poirier, Klimchuk, Culkin, Roy, Gordon are all off to PPG+ starts. Can't wait until our college prospects and the heat start playing.

Forget point per game. Gaudreau will get a point per period this year.

An article noting who the writer thinks will be the top players in college hockey this season; it's a pretty good read. Flames have got four of the 25. http://unitedstatesofhockey.com/2013...yers-to-watch/

Wouldn't be surprised if the Flames kicked tires on Carey

Something interesting I noticed looking at the score sheets, every single Flames draft pick in the CHL this season is wearing a letter for his team. Culkin is the Captain in Quebec, and the rest are all wearing A's for their teams.
If Monahan goes back, he'll remain the captain of the 67's too.
Bill Arnold will also wear an A for Boston College this year.

Just a reminder, Colgate University (Tim Harrison) kicks off their season this weekend with two games against Ferris State (WCHA) @ 7:00pm EST
Harrison will be the first of our college prospects to see game action this season.
Edit: It looks like there may actually be a stream available for this game here:

Interesting... Flames development camp standout Linden Penner was traded from the Everett Silvertips to the Calgary Hitmen.
http://islandsportsnews.net/componen...ner-to-calgary
Flames staff will be able to keep an even closer eye on him now.

I wasn't really impressed with Penner, but I had made the incorrect assumption that he was older (usually try-out invitees are older guys that were never drafted).
Now knowing that he is only 18 and still playing junior, I admit my mistake and have changed my view of him. He showed quite a bit of spunk and game for a 1995er (like only Kanzig, Klimchuk and Rafikov in the Flames' system).
Will be interesting to watch his progress.
