My observations tonight:

-Poirier was dangerous all night. He looks like a special one.
-Monahan was very noticeable out there at both ends of the rink
-Baertchi was just meh although that was a hell of a pass on Monahan's second goal.
-Backlund was playing at a different level than most of the Flames. He led the play a lot and seemed like a leader out there. Probably the most impressive Flame for me tonight.
-Cundari and Jooris were probably the two hardest workers tonight. Lots of energy.
-David Jones is a bull in a china shop. He seemed confused at times on offense but he is a big guy and was more than willing to use his size on the D around the Isles' net. He didn't really win me over though.
-Stajan looked great.
-Ramo seemed poised in net. Nothing spectacular. The save on Moulson in the 3rd was impressive.

I hate only seeing half the goals from a game, it should be standard to show every goal at least once, at least for the online video highlights.

Don't really know how to post quotes out of that article, but it brings a smile to my face to see Hartley draw comparisons between Sakic and Monahan.

Baertschi and Monahan showing chemistry out there.

This can only mean good things. (See what happens when you put them together?!)

Yup love that Baertschi and Monohan were playing together.. Could be our scoring line for years.. Now who's the third on that line?

Monahan. Question should be: Does Monahan or Monohan play C on that line?

Who's the 3rd on that line in the future? Hmm... Hard to say. Gaudreau starting next year perhaps.

The top forwards coming in the next drafts are both centers (Reinhart, Nylander, McDavid) If we go something like 3rd this year and grab a winger, he could be the guy. I'm really not familiar with any of the top wingers for 2014 yet, though.

Tonight on TSN there is the preseason draft special where they talk about who the top rated draft picks are for this years draft. I know it's way to early to tell but Bobby Mac is pretty good with it and it gives a good look at who the top rated players are. Every year some guys always drop down and some always increase their value but it's a pretty decent look at who's available.

What about Poirier being the RW next year on that line? Going into this camp i thought Poirier would be in the NHL in 3-4 years. Don't think he will make it this year, even though he has been having a good camp, but next year is not out of the question.

I came in looking for Monahan's scoring highlights and am satisfied.

How about Wideman's game though? I had to do a double take to see if that was really him throwing out the big hip check. Nice goals too.

Poirier from all accounts has looked good.

I wouldn't mind him being given a 9 game run with Sven and Sean.

I completely forgot Poirier is utilized as both LW/RW. (Duh, he's been playing on Sean's right side for a few games) It's early..

He gets the nod from me to be the third in our holy Flames trinity.

That would be a good choice. His size, speed, and willingness to go to the front of the net would really compliment Sven/Monahan's abilities.

I'm curious what the plan at centre will be provided Galliardi is playing there and Monahan will probably stick for at least a taste.

I guess the obvious is just for Galliardi to shift to wing until Monahan gets sent down.

He'd better stay. Dude looks way too advanced for the OHL. Especially a crummy OHL team.

So long as we give him 2 weeks to go and play in the WJCs.
