While we are getting crazy, how about this.
Trade Stajan to the Nagoya dragons and go with Backlund, Monahan, Granlund and Horak. You want a rebuild, lets rebuild!!!!!

Crazy like a fox.

Granlund's play exceeded my expectations, he looks like a real nice addition. That being said it's difficult to judge whether he is ready for the bigs until one views his play against NHL players during the preseason. Wotherspoon looked very strong in the games I saw. I thought Sven would have stood out more in the prospects tourny as he has already had numerous game experience in the bigs but he was outshone by others IMO. Monahan looked OK but I'm skeptical he graduates this year.

Really excited about Ferland again. In great shape, down over 20 lbs from last years camp, and his size and skill combo are hard to match.

Think they make steal some spots in camp.
I would really love to see that happen this year. We keep hearing it with the Flames (particularly from Feaster) that even though the team is full of veterans that there is always the opportunity for a rookie to outperform them at camp and win a roster spot. To date I do not feel like that has actually happened yet.

I would take that one step further, put Horak on RW and bring in Reinhart for the 4th line center. But that would likely require B.Jones to be shipped out as well as Stajan.

I'd like to see Backlund, Granlund, and Reinhart outperform the other centers in the exhibition season and see if they would keep their word. So far Granlund has looked head and shoulders above everyone and developed really nice chemistry with Ferland. It wouldn't shock me if both of them made it.

I don't think he is anywhere near strong enough on the puck to make it in the NHL. He needs at least one year of AHL time to develop.

I think Granlund may have a more deadly shot than Sven.

That's no slight against Sven. His strengths seem to have always been in playmaking.
But this is why I can see Granlund having a chance to crack the lineup. If he somehow makes it and gets some PP time, I could see him hitting 20 goals on the bigs. And no, I s### you not.

Too bad Granlund and Ferland aren't together and on the same team in these scrimmages as they had nice chemistry together. Saw Galliardi was centering Sven. Who did Granlund play with?

That's a very reasonable assessment
