The iPhone 5S has slightly better battery life with 10 hours talk time, 10 hours LTE browsing and 250 hours standby. That's an improvement over last year's 8 hours of talk time, 8 hours of LTE browsing and 225 hours of standby. We'll have to see how this actually translates in real world use though.

My favorite part is seeing what they do with the site after the event: http://www.apple.com. Always very polished.

They must have really liked the scrolling slideshow format used on the Mac Pro teaser site, because it's back in a big way. The random, full bleed colours used for the 5C on the homepage are a nice touch, too.

The phones look nice but it seems like its no longer worth paying a premium price for apple phones vs what else is on the market. I suspect the 5C will do well as a cheaper option for younger buyers.

Glad I switched from Apple a couple months ago.

I wasn't expecting much from this announcement because it's only the 5S, but good to know they're still underwhelming.

I don't understand the appeal in the 5C. $550 for the entry level 16gb model. That is $100 cheaper than the 16gb 5S. Yes $100 is a lot of money, but not too much when you look at it as a percentage of the overall phone.
With cheaper smartphones like the Nexus 4 among others why would someone prefer the 5C?

To me I'm thinking that everyone that will have a 5C will have a device that shouts "I'm sort of cheap but not really". Its an expensive cheap thing if that makes any sense.

I like that they've gone back towards a rounded back edge. I had the 3GS for 4 years and never had any damage from dropping it as the impact on the rounded edge would just cause the phone to shift and slide. Now I have the 5 and the body gets damaged instantly with a drop on the sharp edges.

Now Apple is adapting and following. Also, it was Nokia's twitter response directly to the 5C release.

Gotta say, pretty underwhelming. IOS7 looks meh but I'll see how it runs on my 4s. Was hoping we'd see some AppleTV info or such, but nada. Maybe later in the month?

Pretty much confirms to me that I will be dropping Apple after my phone contract runs out next month. I'm tired of the lack of innovation, locked-down OS, and lack of customizable features with the iPhone. I'm thinking of moving to that Nokia Lumina 1020 with Windows 8 - worth a try!

I'm a little surprised by the outright pricing of the 5C. I was expecting something closer to the $500 mark, and even lower than that in an attempt to grab the midrange market. Apparently not.

Seems like they justify the lower spec phone by upping the price on the higher spec phone.

Lame.

Right now, Apple sells 3 models of phones. The 5, the 4 and the 4s.

They want a phone that can be sold cheaply, ie $99 on contract, but more quickly phase out the old resolutions of the 4/4s.

I don't think it is cheap enough though. I was expecting in the $400-$450 range, which would make it free on contract.

Looks like all Apple has done is basically raise what a 'premium' should cost you rather than adjusting to the current market.

Haha, I thought it was an Apple fan mocking Nokia for imitating the ipod.
