So I have two incandescent tri-light lamps with 50-100-150 watt steps.
Certainly not an application for a CFL, but is it likely a LED bulb will be developed for tri-lights?

Tried a couple of these recently:

Interesting shape, but the LEDs are pretty visible so I wouldn't use it somewhere where the bulb is visible or even close to the frosted glass.
Also was really interested to see that Cree is making a T8 replacement that doesn't need to replace anything other than the bulb.

are there any "warm" LED bulbs out there?
Which ones would you recommend.

I've got Philips and Cree warm LED bulbs and I like the colour of both of them.

Bump I suppose:
Looking to start replacing bulbs with LEDs and don't have the faintest idea where to start.
I've got pot lights with what I think are GU10's. Could use about 20 of those. Thinking about these
http://www.dx.com/p/youoklight-gu10-...8#.Vi15dvmrTcs
Although those look awful yellow. I don't want to end up with a bunch of white lights that makes me feel like I'm in a hospital or a giant bug zapper.
Then I've got countless other bulb sizes throughout the house. Flood lights, little stupid candle looking things, then standard bulbs those round ones that have existed forever, some in different sizes, some clear, some white.
All the ones I linked to are also dimming lights, as are some of the random round normal sized ones.
Sigh.
E27 seems to be the standard size
E14 Slightly smaller
GU10 seems to be the potlight that I need a ton of, mostly dimming
Floodlights, kind of big pot lights, I don't know how to describe them other that standard screw in size I think, but big fat body that fill a pot light hole.
Seems like an expensive project.

When I moved into my new townhouse, I replaced every bulb with Philips LED bulbs from Home Depot. It was costly, but I've been happy with my choice. The warm hue is everywhere except the bathrooms and garage.

Same here, we use really bright 100 watts in the bathrooms and garage but with motion sensor switches so they are only on a minimum amount of time. Really nice not to have to hit the switches in those rooms .

For the GU10 bulbs, I recommend getting 6-7 watt bulbs, Costco and IKEA have them pretty cheap.
Home Depot has LED light bulbs in likely every size and shape you need. Most of mine are from there (I converted my entire house to LED as well - previous owner hadn't even realized that CFL bulbs existed yet). Home Depot has at least 75 watt equivalent, if not 100. Specifically, I like the Philips slim style bulbs, best omnidirectional bulb for a good price that I've seen yet.

For the flood lights, I got a dimable one from Costco to try out, as ti is in my basement theatre room. Unfortunately the dimmers on those only work to about 30%, which is way to bright.
All LED's are different, you may need to buy a few different brands to see what you like.

Reno depot has a deal on their "Bazz" branded LED lights. Buy a $10 light bulb get a $10 gift card. We were buying a bunch of stuff for a renovation (bathtub, etc) so bought a bunch of LEDs first and then used the gift cards to pay for stuff we're using anyway. I haven't tried the lightbulbs yet (busy with renovation stuff) but the price was right.
http://www.renodepot.com/en/flyer
It's in their flyer, and the deal is good until Nov 2nd. I bought a bunch of A19 and GU10s. I've already replaced my kitchen pot lights with LEDs, and they've lasted so much better its unbelievable.
(I think the reno-depot gift cards are also good at Rona stores, since its the same company, but haven't actually tried that)

Was there a limit on how many bulbs/ cards you could get? $10 is a smoking deal anyway (for floodlights), but I'm sure I could find stuff to buy there with gift cards.

15 bulbs per transaction, but my wife and I each went through more than once. I have a lot of LEDs now...

So is there a consensus yet on the best LED bulbs to get to replace incandescent? I haven't wanted to spend the money until the big box stores started carrying bulbs that weren't garbage. Are we there yet?

I think we are there, other than dimables need some work. My favorite have been Luminus from Costco:

Home Depot had been selling 2 packs of LED bulbs for $10. I bought several and have upgraded most of my bulbs in my house.

I really like the Costco Luminus bulbs and they are on sale this week. We switched our bulbs to them earlier this year which included a bunch of GU10, BR30 and the candle bulbs. A couple of the candle bulbs weren't working properly because they had a bad base but it was easy enough to return them to Costco and buy another pack. The Luminus bulbs are a very "traditional" warm yellow light which is very similar to incandescent.

I'd say we're there on basic incandesent bulbs (A10 bulbs, BR potlights); but for anything replacing a halogen bulb (ie crisp white and non-diffused) we're not.
Manufacturers still haven't got a good lens that replicates a halogen's light pattern, whether its a PAR20, PAR30, or GU/MR style. LEDs are too directional and most bulbs don't diffuse the light much at all, so it makes it too harsh of a light.
Add in the fact there are still no real "good" whites out there (that I've seen) that match Halogen. Phillips bright white is borderline purple, and anything lower than that is gross yellow. I want to be able to install LEDs and not be able to tell instantly they're LEDs.
Until they can nail halogen replacements, I'll stick with the real deal. Which is a real shame because at $10 a pop, they're basically as expensive as LEDs now.
