A really bad decision for them based on where they were in the race at the time. Even though they weren't at the front of the pack, they were still comfortably ahead of most of the teams. Even if everything on their new itinerary had gone as scheduled, they were still going to be 2 hours behind the first flight into Lisbon.
The gamble didn't really improve their chances of winning the leg, but significantly increased their chances of losing the leg before they even got a chance to do anything.

It didn't seem like Ally & Ashley forgot the sugar cane - they just decided to come back for it later because the taxi wouldn't let them take it. I have no idea why they couldn't figure out they would be better off just getting another taxi or convincing their taxi to take it.
I don't actually hate Marie. She would be brutal to be in a relationship with, but she's not nearly as bad as some previous contestants. Of course, it helps that she's kind of cute.
should be a time penalty for any team that allows another team to assist them in completing a task...team up until you get to a task, but I think you should have to complete it on your own.
Love it when people play the "holier than thou" card and then try to "cheat". It's a game people. Someone not telling you the truth about u-turning someone isn't a lie so much as a strategy. (note: I also don't think what she tried to do was cheating. It was part of the game. She couldn't figure it out so tried to look at a completed one, but it has to go against their promoted morals and ethics of how the game should be played). And Travis shows his true colours IMO with two statements:
"We have a good lead so I'm OK with letting her do the task" and
"I am embarrassed. 1 hour to figure out what an octave is".
Stress of the race or not I can't ever imagine a time when I would say I'm embarrassed about my wife or her performance. Nice support bud. First time you really had issues in the race and we truly got to see who you are. Holier than thou indeed.
I do agree that outright hands on helping during the task ought not to be allowed. Though I can't believe a team actually helped them out instead of taking the opportunity to help eliminate a stronger team. Likely a terrible decision made on that one.
Maria...I don't get the major issue with her either to tell you the truth. No way you'd want to be in a relationship with her but she's a strong racer. Easily the strongest female racer this season. And she is usually correct compared to her race partner.

For all the talk about how bossy Marie supposedly was she had nothing on Travis. I'm so glad that team didn't win. Between their whining about the Afghanimals "lying", their "alliance" which consisted of other teams helping them complete challenges and Travis' bitching about Nicole's performances it was pretty absurd.

Travis and Nicole would never have made the final 3 without help...they were lucky and owe that 50Gs to the winners.
The Afghanimals may have won it all if not for the help Nicole got.

Travis is a piece of work. Such an jerk to his wife. Nicole may have been a weak partner for the race but she was the partner you chose, and you chose to run her down every chance you got. You are an ass Travis.
So glad they didn't win. I hope they bring in some rules that teams can not actively hands-on help another team do a task because that was ridiculous. talk about it, take peaks at completed works etc is fine but actual hands on doing the task should not be allowed.

Travis and Nicole were a good team until he went all nutter. They dominated for the first half the season.
Glad to see a team who I could legitimately cheer for and feel good about them winning actually winning the race. So often on these shows it's cheering against someone, and it's a relief when they don't win.
Tim and Marie ...... wow, he seemed like a decent guy but she was just awful. Great editing and juxtaposition to show his treatment of his ex girlfriend vs Travis' treatment of his wife over the stumbling of the airplane challenge. Tim was a gentleman and Travis was such an idiot.
