I like the National a lot, but sometimes their albums are a real chore to get through. Their live shows are electric though. Totally different band in concert.
Sigur Ros live is one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. You guys are nuts.

Just imagine this reined in at a venue like the Paramount in Seattle or the even the PNE in Vancouver...... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9YpzevT9Y9w Big band small venue is hard to beat. They are love it or hate it by nature and album 5 and 6 have crossed over into mainstream consciousness to some degree. They have always been The National. If you love them you don't care what anyone else thinks I can see why people hate them and that hate will grow throughout the rest of this year.
Well, we can both be thankful that you weren't at that concert, because somebody offing themselves in the middle of Svefn-G-Englar would have knocked it down my list of favorite concerts a few spots.
One less person in the world with terrible taste in music though.

Sigur = #1 band. #1 live act.
Well, just to be fair I gave it another chance. Here's the first Sigur Ros song I found on youtube
It is exactly like every other SR song I've heard, and I could only make it up until the 2 minute mark until I was punching myself in the testicles and jamming pitchforks in my ears.
Holy Christ that is one terrible band making terrible music.
Is the person singing, errh, squealing in some made up language, or whatever, a eunuch or something?
Prince is one of those artists who sound a million times better live than on an album because of the absolute spontaneous creativity and musical genius that comes across when he plays live. His albums always sound overproduced to the point of blandness.
Skip to 4:40 for a great solo
That solo is incredible. Prince is one of the best guitar players on the planet.
As for live acts, a second for Fishbone but also some Canadiana with The Sadies. Awesome live band and amazing musicianship.
Also, The Budos Band puts on one hell of a live show.

We get it. Next time can you lob off your hands so we don't have to read anymore of these posts?

Please do tell - who were the last 3 bands you saw live?
I haven't been to any big venue concerts in a long time, the last one that was > 100 people would have been Peter Murphy in VCR.
But lets say the 3 bands I would dish out big $$$ to see right now would be Pink Floyd, Porcupine Tree, QOTSA, Janes Addiction, RadioHead, NIN and any Jack White band.
I think RHCP should be higher, amazing live band and great shows all 3 times I have seen them! Foo Fighters also I feel should be higher IMO!
I saw RHCP last year and thought that, apart from Flea, they were horrid live. Keidis was disappearing between almost every song, leaving the band playing for a minute before he comes back out.
Foo Fighters put on a great show - I would put them above RHCP.
Smashing Pumpkins (or Billy Corgan with a new band) were better too

RHCP peaked with Mother's Milk, IMO.
