I don't necessarily disagree with this, but if you ban this, you also have to ban either kids from campgrounds, or campfires from campgrounds, because the smoke from them is far more harmful.

I just really hate nanny-state bans such as this one (for the record, I quit smoking 15 years ago). Almost each and every one of Orwell's predictions are coming true. Governments don't know what's good for you and by telling us what's good they take away people's ability to think critically and to decide for themselves. History proves it over and over again. Witches and heretics were burned at stake for the good of the people too based on the best quality research and advice available to the rulers in those times.
So in some future time it will be shown that smoking is good for you?

I think that the usage of the health care system by smokers and the obese is greater than non-smokers/non-obese.

I thought mursing homes were private and pay per use set up.

This will be enforced about as much as alcohol on city diamonds is enforced. I played ball on city diamonds for 10 years, and not once did a cop ever come to see what we were drinking.

I agree, provided the goal of any tax is to cover costs and not to disuade use.

Sarcasm noted. But, can you bet your life that it will never be?

and I think differently. All I am saying there is no reliable data on this comparison. But I do know that seniors' care costs are enormous.

Not all of them. There are fully-funded nursing homes owned by AHS and non-profits, assisted living facilities that are private and semi-private and private nursing homes. All residents receive supplement that is used towards the cost of living in the facility. Not sure about today's supplement amount, but a couple of years ago it was approximately $80/bed/night x 30.5 = $2,500/month on average, which is just living cost. Medical costs are extra.
