BSG is the best series on tv...bar none. Great acting, plot, and special effects. They are airing this season's finale in the states now. Part 1 was great and there promises to be a shocking cliff hanger to end this seasons run.

Well, I never expected it to a a universal opinion, but just a personal observation. That being said, those episodes came from early in season one, which was before I started watching. So it is entirely possible that the writers just did an admirable job of developing her into a character that turns me off.

I've seen some people say the SIX/Baltar scenes are completely worthless while loving the rest of the show . . . . and other odd combinations or opinions, including Boomer being described by one otherwise glowing reviewer as the "scared bunny act."
There's lots of characters, lots of story lines and more opportunity to love or hate aspects of each.
My sister-in-law was bawling at the end of "You Can't Go Home Again."
Starbuck travelling off into the wilderness in a humvee with Helo and running into "The Resistance" had my eyes glazing over for awhile, although I did like the hospital episode. Haven't seen the episode yet where they go back and hook up with the Resistance again but it seems like a bit of a distraction.

Yes, it's definitely to each their own -- personally the SIX/Baltar scenes are always amongst my favorites (no spoilers, but it takes a great twist in ep. 18).
The most important thing, as you said, is that there is enough going on that I can still enjoy almost every episode despite not being able to stand one main character.

With apologies to all the Ginophobes I like the new BSG. I was also a fan of the OS. I have no problem with them spicing up the characters, changing their gender, and sexing it up a bit. The acting is far superior to the original as is the plot and special effects.

As someone noted, there probably has never been the kind of mania of hatred towards a new series, based on an older version, in television or even movie history as we see between fans of the old series and those of the new one.
The vitriol, nipicking and depths that this has gone to across the internet has been stunning . . . .
And that's with Richard Hatch, an earlier leader of the anti-new-BSG movement, on board and a principle character in the new series.

Yes. This entire "wholesomeness" objection - not just that but a lot of other things as well - is pretty surreal as though you ran into a closet "moral majority" chapter in a clubhouse that has always been crawling with Space Babes like Seven Of Nine.
Personally, I thought that Baltar scene was absolutely hilarious. I can't imagine how Sackoff kept a straight face when they were filming it.

I gotta say, I was very hesitant to give this show a try given how dissapointed I've always been with Sci-Fi space shows, but I have been blown away by this. Great special effects and storyline and for the most part great acting (although Starbuck can get on my nerves sometimes).
I consider myself one of the lucky ones who found this show late and downloaded (if I could buy it I would, but to everyone's surprise...it's not a big hit in China) all of season 1 and half of season 2 after watchin just one episode allowing me to watch most of it without waiting a week between each episode.
If you haven't seen it yet, you're luckier than I, because you get to see the first 2 seasons without breaks. Amazing show! Really not looking forward to waiting for season 3.

Season 2 is in the books for me!
The season finale didn't knock my socks off, unfortunately. It lived up to the hype in terms of taking a big twist, but IMO they tried to pack too much into the final episode. Even though it was 90 minutes, there was so much packed in that it was bang-bang-bang -- all payoff with no setup so the twists didn't have much of an impact. Had they told this story arc over three or four episodes it would have been outstanding, but alas. . . .
Some vague teasers for those waiting, and possibly a jumping off point for hidden discussions for others who have watched it: - Military incompetence by Starbuck
- Another Cylon model revealed
- Much naked cavorting by fine looking females
- Political shenanigans
- A big bang
- One year later
- Is Adama a porn star?
- Crappy new digs
- The set-up for next year

excellent idea for a thread!
BSG really made a believer out of me...I had followed some the early development news on various movie websites and wasn't too sure if it was going to be good (remember that ridiculous robot dog? Moppet?)...Anyhow, after checking out the mini-series, it was really quite good and only got better with the series.
Hopefully, its audience will continue to grow so that we can be ensured of a number of seasons to follow...and when they do find earth, hopefully the writers will leave the "flying motorcycles" behind...

Okay I have seen 3 eps and not all the way through... I was about to make fun of all of you (in a nice way), but then I remembered... We are on a forum dedicated to the greatest game on earth. So I'd be making fun of myself in a way too.. lol. All I can say is that Asian Cylon is freaking HOT!!! Shwing!

My exact impression as well. Maybe if there were commercials to hold the suspense in between scenes  . If they had extended it to at least two hours, it would have helped a lot - maybe the DVD will have deleted scenes or directors cut or whatever 'cause it sure seemed like some of the buildup was missing - nevertheless, it was awesome TV. The new developments blow my mind, and the acting by pretty much everyone, especially Mary McDonnell and James Callis is surely deserving of some award. I can't believe I'll have to wait til October to see what happens next.

Just finished watching episode 20 last night. (no spoilers)
Totally blew my fracking head off. It was really that good. Once again the show defies convention and heads off into uncharted territory - and yet somehow pulls it off.
Love the new Cylon model btw. Nice work.
What episode is Canada up to? I want to talk about this stuff, without worrying about ruining it for others!
As for Episode 19? I too was dissapointed (slightly) with what I saw as sort of a cliche cliffhanger. But 20 seemed to tie it all back together quite nicely.
