Another vote for Berra here. Big, quick to react, and agile, with good technique.
I suspect the season starts with Berra starting and Mac backing up with Ramo starting in the AHL. However, I think all three get starts for the Flames over the course of the season.

With Ramo being signed to a nice $ amount contract, i think the odds of him being in the AHL to start the season are slim to none.
My guess is Mac plays opening night for the flames with Ramo playing the next night. Berra will probably start in the AHL, but will get his chance with the flames rather quickly.

If Berra shows enough, we could have three goalies for half the season until the new guys show that they aren't first time wonders. By this I mean that at first look opposing shooters won't have a book on them but the second time they'll pick up on their weaknesses. An example is Karlsson who looked good at first. Getting rid of MacDonald too early could be a big mistake.
all the highlight videos show a serious lack of rebound control. I think macdonald will play a lot of games this season.
I disagree. You can't absorb every shot and the ones that do rebound are generally directed to safe areas of the ice. What I like is that he never seems "scrambly." Always appears in control with good positioning and reflexes, rarely requiring an out of position acrobatic save (those are nice too though )

If Ramo and Macdonald don't start the season on the Flames I'm stunned. I'd even bet Mac starts game 1. I also suspect Berra gets 10+starts. But if Mac plays more than 25-30 games I would be stunned. And if Ramo starts less than 25-30 games then Berra better be impressing.
If brossoit gets games if be stunned. I wouldn't be surprised to see ortio play flames games but I wouldn't mind a game or 2.

Highlights are always exceptional situations. You can't judge rebound control based on exceptionally dangerous plays or big scrambles. You'd have to watch the normal routine saves to get a good idea of that.
Berra, I'll be interested to see his lateral movement at NHL game speed.

I think it's Ramo's job to lose. MacDonald will be the primary backup and likely play 25-30 games. Berea I think starts in the AHL and may see some games in the second half. Keep in mind that the Predators kept Pekka Rinne in the minors for an extra season to make him play 60+ games. Both Berra and Ramo will be adjusting to a new game/rink size and the long schedule.

Berra is a really quick goalie for suck a big guy, nice vid Damage!
I think the ? to who gets the starts in goal really comes down to who takes the role during camp/pre-season. Joey Mac is gonna be battling too, there's a reason he signed here but at the end of the day I think it's gonna be one of Berra/Ramo with Ramo getting the edge and Berra putting up 20-25 starts in the process. I think it's gonna be an interesting year for sure haha.
I believe both Ramo & Feaster are thinking he's the starter, so Ramo gets the reins to start the season. I wouldn't be surprised if after a very competitive main camp and a solid injection of eager to please youth, Hartley coaches the Flames to a hot start giving the fan base false hope Ramo is the 2nd coming of Miikka. Once reality sets in and the Flames record settles down to .500 (or less) we'll see both MacD and Berra being given opportunities on the road against weaker opponents.
In summary; Ramo gets 50 games against the strongest teams and ends up with average stats, while MacD & Berra split the remaining 30 games and one of them will post the best stats and shock us by starting the playoffs and winning us a round 1 upset.
...or at least that's what my crystal ball is telling me.

I was thinking the same thing. Most of the rebounds are directed in such a way that he is still in position to make the 2nd save if he has to., or away from opposing players.
edit: On a side note, do we even know for sure that Kiprusoff is retiring?
