Selfishly speaking I would really like him to stay one more year in Windsor.

Yes I think most would say his ceiling would be 2nd pairing dman.
I think the Flames are planning on just giving Sieloff a taste of the NHL (less than 9 NHL games) so he knows what he needs to prepare for next season.

2nd pairing, heart and soul player who is a potential fan favorite while contributing physicality as a stay at home defenseman me thinks.

If the stars align just right, Adam Foote. At worst he'll be a quality 5-6 guy.

Call me crazy but I'd be strangely okay with that.

Yup 2nd pairing. More Warrener then Regehr.

Future of the Flames D with Sieloff, Kanzig, Brodie, Breen an possibly Kulak if he developes = chubby.

I disagree, I think he will eventually fill the same roll as Regehr, top shutdown pairing and PK time, but under 22 minutes in ice-time.

The coaches had Sieloff and Wotherspoon as a pairing for much of dev camp.
I'd be fine with them as a pairing in the pre-season.

That's a good comparable. If he completely develops, he'll be a shutdown top pairing guy in the same mold as Foote, and if he trends to what he's looking like currently, he'll be a solid 3/4 guy that is a bear to play against.

Isn't he already a better skater than Foote & Sarich were? He looks pretty quick for a shut-down guy in the clips I've seen, and he's at least as good as Denis Gauthier at open-ice hits. I flippin' loved Denis Gauthier.
He could be a huge boost to the lineup if he makes the team this year. I wouldn't want him spending much time in the pressbox though, as young guys need icetime... Either he bumps someone from the lineup or he goes back to Windsor after 9 games.

Sieloff was the quickest skater of the D-men in the practices/game. He's not Brodie fast, but he isn't a slouch either. There is no perfect comparable, but his makeup overall is similar in style to those guys, just that he's fairly quick. It's that combination that is putting him in the conversation to start the season in Calgary.
He is the most "guaranteed" NHLer of the defense core because of his defensive game + speed.

More Macoun than Warrener? Sieloff is a pretty good skater and Warrener, not so much.

I would temper my expectations of Sieloff as an NHL defenseman next year. There is absolutely no need to rush him. He has played only one year in the OHL. In terms of game experience he is pretty green. There is some offensive upside to Sieloff so let him develop his offensive game a bit. Let him play big minutes in junior and in all situations and maybe he can flesh out his offensive game a bit which is always useful not for the purposes of being a point producer in the NHL but for the purposes of being able to play top 4 minutes in the NHL. Sieloff should go back to juniors and work hard on improving his puck skills.

I would definitely agree with this approach. It's also good asset management; no need to burn a year of his ELC.
You can be sure of one thing though: Sieloff won't see it that way & will be pushing hard to make the team. At the very least his presence should push the other defence prospects to up their game.

Is he the most physical of the D-men in our system? I would want to add that dimension to our back end ASAP. Perhaps Ramage is in a better position developmentally to step up & play his way onto the team? Breen is obviously in the discussion too. Who do they bump to the Heat? (just for today please don't say Chris Butler...)
