where's the risk?

would be the definition of a low-risk move since all he needs is a tryout it sounds like

Why? You won't know his commitment until he tries out.

I really don't care either way if the Flames give him a tryout. If they do I would caution to keep expectations very, very, very low.

I bet the Wings invite him. He's a good player with good hockey sense who can likely pick his career up again in the right environment. Wings excel at that.

There's no harm in inviting him to camp. If he earns himself a 1 year league minimum 2-way deal it's not as though he'll be taking the roster spot of any of our world-class RW prospects. If he really has his head together he could put up 15 to 20 goals on the 2nd or 3rd line. Worst case scenario he becomes a much-needed veteran presence on the Heat.

Do it Jay.

Happy he's getting a chance, I remember him being a solid guy for us in the 2012 WC final run.

Didn't take long to find a training camp to attend. Didn't think it would take long either. He's got the talent to warrant an invite. I'm personally disappointed he won't be attending the Flames camp.

Brule was with PHX 2 seasons ago so it is not an impossibility to make the squad as a walk on but it likely will be with a 2 way contract and he is sent down JMO.

i guess the fact he is not playing in the khl anywhere nor born in Alberta means the flames are not interested in him as he doesn't meet the min requirements needed to join the system,
