Stuart was a clear on ice upgrade and a risk he was going to be able stay after that season.
Ference's fan favourite status and outspokenness made him more highly regarded here then he was on the ice.

Decent defenseman, like a lot of the 2004 defenseman from the Flames, played well above their means those 2 months, and all owe Sutter some of their pay.

Yeah a lot of Bruins fans saying he is 2nd pairing and from what I saw he is a 2nd pairing guy. As you said, character guy. Would have preferred 3 years, but I'm happy with the signing.

Oilers really needed a character guy like Ference. Good for them.

Good signing by the Oil.

Imagine if Ference and Iggy went to Edmonton and ended up winning a cup. Probably would puke and then stop watching hockey.

Good signing. The term is a little long, but when sigining UFAs, you are either going to over spend on dollars or term. That much is usually a given.

let's hope he's former Flame Ference in Edmonton instead of former Bruin Ference.

I still remember him as "InterFerence"

I hope MacT has more in store than this. Still think Ference is a bottom pair guy. Will be improvement over Nick Schultz, who's contract is gonna run out.

Good signing for Edmonton, Ference was one of the most important guys in building the current culture of the Bruins, he should be good for the Oilers. As for who he played with in Boston, he was usually with either Boychuk or McQuaid the last couple years. He bounced between the 2nd and 3rd pairing, but when the team was healthy and playing well he was usually on the 3rd pairing with McQuaid. He can play top 4 for stretches, and he's a heart and soul guy, but his ceiling is the 4th best d-man on a good team, and ideally he's on the 3rd pair.

Feels kinda like seeing an ex-girlfriend hook up with the mullet-sporting, camaro-driving ######bag that works at KFC.
