Boy that Regehr trade sucked.
The only reason I would hope for Butler and Byron to be gone at this point would be so that people stop effing crying about the Regehr trade.

But then, I realized that people here effing cry about everything, so there is no gain. As such, I am glad they are back.

Paul Byron is not an NHL calibre player.

His inclusion in the Regehr trade baffled me.

His continued presence in the Flames' system baffles me.

Hey, Browna even managed to take a shot at Feaster over Richards for the umteenth time in the umpteenth thread that has absolutely nothing to do with it.

I dream of the day that some of these posters look forward instead of backward all the time.

On topic...like all the moves today, especially giving Nemisz another chance.

Surprised Byron was qualified. I don't mind his game, but I don't think he will ever be any more than an injury call-up.

Very happy they qualified Bancks!! He is the heart and soul of the Heat!
Was pulling for Aliu as well.

Aliu had a ####ty attitude. All the practices I watched of him. He seemed like everyone owed him. Seemed entitled for some reason.

With Ferland coming to the AHL next year, there was no need for Aliu.

His NHL chances are probably gone

The only decision I'm not happy with is qualifying Byron. I don't see the NHL in his future. Maybe kepy him for leadership in the AHL. Not a fan of Butler but you have to qualify him, but I do hope he gets traded.

Wonder if Aliu and Lamb are cut loose, or brought back for less than a QO

Lamb, in particular would have received a 5% raise on his $925K ELC. Would there still be interest, but at a lower number?

Also glad they qualified Nemisz. Injuries were his problem last year. I still think he has a ton of positives, hope he can get back to the game I saw him play when he was drafted.

Yup, happy they qualified Nemisz as well. He's 22. He had a tough year. We have room on the 50 man roster - can't hurt to give him another chance to grow.

Good riddance.
No, those first 2 games, chances, were a complete disaster with 2 goals, (3 shots) 1 assts, 6 really hard hits and 12 penalty mins with a 66.67 shooting % and being a plus 3 was an absolute fail all the way around. He played a measally 5 games after that. It's pretty sad when you make judgements on players based on things "you heard" which are things people were talking about 2 years ago. He was probably our only bright spot and something to cheer about at the end of the last full regular season, giving him 5 games this year and expecting monster stats or monster results as a young rookie seems pretty damn unfair to me. If it was all about stats, results, when they are called up from Abby, you could say " good riddance " to 95% of them.

Probably the best depth in those 41 contracts we have seen in a while. Not really any "wasted" contract spots (maybe Elson, Martin, Eddy).
Not a wasted contract IMO. Watched alot of Elson this year and still think he could be an effective player with 4th line energy guy potential

Hard to complain with much here. I'm really hoping Breen stays healthy; it'd be nice to see what he can do at the next level.

Feaster discusses RFAs QO, Galliardi, the draft etc

said they hoped Bouma and Nemisz would have made the team last year if not injured in Abbotsford

Butler playing a top 4 role next season is a good thing.

...I swear, half of you complained and demanded a rebuild but are now pissed we have to play marginal players in our lineup? What did you think would happen during a rebuild? We'd ice an all-star team that would choose to suck?

Also, Butler is nowhere near as bad as CP makes him out to be. He's a mobile bottom pairing guy.

Also, at one of the info sessions Feaster said that Nemisz would be qualified and spoke very highly of his work ethic and that injuries have really hurt his development but he continues to work his tail off. What else can you ask of him? Sounds like a quality guy.
