The problem with monster deals is the quality of play / incentive can vanish, depending on the character/nature of the player. That's why giving him 6+ mil or something insane I agree would be dangerous.

If they sign Bozak, they better have plans to move Stajan. I don't want to see guys like Backlund or maybe even Knight take lessor roles because of aveage moves like these.

I would do 5 years at 5 million. Any longer it would be too risky. At worse he is a good 3rd line center. He fills a need for the Flames and is still a pre-apex player. Stajan is gone after or during this season. Reinhart can move to the wing if he proves to be a full-time NHLer.

2013-14 centers: Bozak, Stajan, Backlund, Knight, Monahan/Reinhart
2014-15 centers: Bozak, Backlund, Monahan, Knight, Reinhart
