You realize this idiocy only makes things better for the Canucks, right?

I'd do the 28th and a second tier prospect for Schneider

Sure, if that propsect is Barra or Ortio. We'd have to unload a goalie somewhere anyway in that case.

Put me in the camp of those who would rather see what we have in the system at the goaltending position. Team is going to be bad for at least two more years. I don't see the point in giving up assets for a guy that may be just good enough to keep the Flames out of picking top 5. Blest do the rebuild right the first time.

Vancouver trades Schneider out of desperation, only for Luongo, angry at being held hostage for the last year, to demand a trade shortly after. Make it happen.

Hasn't Luongo asked to be traded repeatedly already though? I can't believe they are even remotely considering keeping Luongo in Vancouver for the rest of his career at this point. It would have made sense to move Schneider before the start of this season, or even during it, but at this point haven't they already gone past the point of no return in the Luongo situation?

LeBrun today on TSN
Quote:
"The Canucks met yesterday as a front office and realized, "listen, we're not getting anywhere on the Roberto Luongo trade front."
They're just not trading that contract, they tried for a year, no one wants that contract. So they said "you know what let's put Cory Schneider out there for the next couple of days and see what we get in return.
In the end the Canucks front office believes that Luongo and Schneider are just about the same guy in goal. So if you get a nice return for Cory Schneider you've actually made your team better, you still have a world class goalie in net in Roberto Luongo, and suddenly you're a better team. But it's a pretty dramatic turn of events, and yes there is a lot of interest in Cory Schneider."

he's usually pretty good, this might actually happen

Trading Schneider was the right move right from the beginning... Gillis is a Tard.

Wait, let me get this straight, Flames fans are afraid of drafting Fucale with any of the first round picks but are supposed to give up Bartschi and the 6th overall for Schneider?

Irving for Schneider. That's the only way I want this to happen if it does end up being to us.

Flames have enough goalies in their system to start filling their roster. That's too much too give up when Canucks are begging others to take one of their goalies. Like what Locke said, throw a lowball and see where Canucks will go. Either way, Canucks are not gonna get what they want if they have to go through 3/4 of the season with the same dilemma as the last two seasons.

That'd be awesome! I'd throw in Cammi if the Nucks make a fuss over it.

Well they can't be in this situation in the next season because they won't have the cap space to carry both goalies and sign the rest of the guys they need to sign. One of them will get bought out and that will likely be Luongo if they can't trade either of them this summer. They are in quite the jam. I hope that they don't trade either and buy out Luongo and get nothing for him. I don't want anyone in the NHL to help them out of this jam.

Vancouver currently has 17 guys signed. They have 47K of cap space to sign 6 players to ice a 23 man roster or they could ice an AHL team like Calgary.
Good luck with that.

According to Dreger on insider trading, the Oilers are willing to pay the asking price for Schneider.
If that is the case the hold up must be a) still desperately trying to unload Luongo b) waiting to see who is available at #7 or both a+b.

I can't believe Luongo would be willing to play for that franchise any longer after the way they have treated him. Boggles my mind.

The only way out is if he gets bought out. Nobody want to trade for that contract or pay the price for him.

Why the #### would you want to help the Canucks by overpaying, and watching our best draft pick in year turn into a star with that team?
*pukes*.. I don't want their scum. I'd rather let Ramo and Berra duke it out and use our assets for moving up / holding out and making the picks / acquiring Seguin.
Hopefully the Oilers do the Coburn deal instead, and let the Canucks' goaltending debacle continue.
