I'm willing to help out as well. I will only be able to in the evenings, but I have no problem helping others who are affected by this mess. Just let us know!

What is the best way to help without just getting in the way?

Does anyone have any drop sheets I can use for a week or two? Best would be long runners, that are maybe 4 ft wide and 15-20 ft long.

Didn't see this posted in the thread so far... http://yychelps.ca/

Seems like a good site to keep track of if you want to volunteer.

Just taking a brief timeout from flood damage repair.

On behalf of some of my neighbours:

Surferguy, sebC, and Furnaceface you guys are awesome.

Been working thier arses off all day in Discovery. We have had so many others by helping, dropping off pizzas, hamburgers, drinks. Been a great community effort.

But these guys dont live here but came out to help all day. And we are not done, we are heading back to work till whenever.

Just wanted to give them some "props", is that what the cool kids say?

If you're interested in helping out in Beltline, there is a coordinated group forming and waiting to get going. The worst areas are still in the evacuation zone, but things will move quickly when that is lifted.

Friend this guy on Facebook if you want to be involved:

Hey Aeneas (and others working in Discovery Ridge), can you PM me your whereabouts and names? Can't help much this evening and most of my efforts will be in Beltline in the coming week(s), but I'd like to run you guys up some coffee and snacks.

I ended up helping a friend of a friend down off of Lansdowne Ave and 4a St today. What a mess. The streets are solid mud, If anyone is looking for somewhere to help, it can be used down there. There are a lot of people that need it.

edit: Bring rubber boots if you go.

Thanks Finkprof, appreciated.

Must have been a serious emergency in Calgary, getting both Finkprof and SebC out to a parasite community!

^No problem. Dropped the rest of the coffee and donuts off in Sunnyside to cleanse my spirit of the land of cul-de-sacs and snout houses. Didn't see Bigtime though.

Yep, they along with Volunteer Calgary are good bets. Both are beginning to work with CEMA and the City on how best to deploy volunteers, match skills with needs and so forth.
