So is the update on King and Shanahan being in a meeting reliable?

Not from Calgary so I've never read the Calgary Heard or even listened to the Fan 960 until recently. But good to know he's a reliable guy, hopeful the rumor's true.

I would put him in the 2nd tier of reliability. He isn't Dreger or Mackensie reliable in that he will report rumours that aren't imminent but he is not an Eric Francis type who seems to say things just to stir the pot.

If true, this is terrible news. Just what this organization needs, more housecleaning and another regime to come in and put their stamp on things, undoing some of the good things Feaster has done organizationally.
Everyone craps all over Feaster but he's done a halfway decent job especially compared with his predescesor. Last time we hired a novice executive, we bought out a future Hart Trophy Winner, we traded a Conn Smythe winner for a washed up starter and traded a first line centre for a pile of hot garbage.
Last thing we need is a Bettman crony to come learn on the job. Remember when we were all freaking out that Mike Murphy was going to become our GM? Shanahan is Mike Murphy circa 2013 and people are cheering. If you are going to fire Feaster, bring in the best who have experience running a successful franchise, not Bettman cronies.

I've heard that Weisbrod would have no problem stepping in as GM of the Flames as long as there's no meddling by the ownership.
If there is a change in Hockey Ops, we maybe could see Weisbrod taking over for Feaster. I'd put (a small amount) of money on it.

From what I gather he would take over Ken Kings role with hockey ops, I don't think anyone has said Feaster would be gone?

Halfway decent job compared to his predecessor?
His predecessor took the team to game 7 (and a disputed goal) of the SCF, he made the play-offs a majority of time, won division title and had this team full of top level players.
Feaster has missed the play-offs every year, brought the team to 6th last in the league (and a Jimmy Howard brainfart of bottom 3), has this team set up with arguably the worst talent under 25 (definitely bottom 3), a prospect base with 0 elite prospects and tough to find one blue chip prospect and has been the joke of the league/embarrassment to fans for at least the last 8 months.
That is nowhere near to a halfway decent job and especially not when compared to the much more successful predecessor.

There's speculation that Feaster is on the way out as well. Theres a link on page 1 that points this out. Everything is speculative right now but it is out there.

Is Shanahan stands in for King, King moves up, and Weisbrod takes over for Feaster, where does Feaster go?

I would hope for more (and better) changes than that but I guess any change that leads to the removal of all the people responsible is good.
Hopefully is Weisbrod stepped in it would be for a short period of time as a caretaker to get someone qualified and competent in there.

I wonder if Edwards is finally as tired of hearing Feaster talk out of his arse as the rest of us are?

I think if Shanahan gets the role it could go a long way towards building the winning culture that is needed here. He has been part of a winning organization, plus his recent experience at NHL HQ would benefit the team in many ways. Not sure how qualified he is in other areas, certainly though should have a good base of knowledge and XP to build on.

Edmonton or Vancouver, hopefully.
Barring that, back to his underwear blogging for THN where he belongs.

I hear you, but Weisbrod seems to be a very competent and intelligent fellow. He's one hundred times better at evaluating hockey than Feaster. I think he's a driven guy who knows what he wants. He comes from one of the more successful franchises in the past 5-7 years.
I would have full faith in Weisbrod as GM, but I guess that remains to be seen.
