Voted Nichushkin. I believe him to be the BPA at that slot.

People who are worried about taking the russian need to realize for that to happen the Flames would of have to pass on one of.
Mackinnon
Jones
Drouin
Barkov
Monahan
Lindholm
And thats very unlikely. We are guaranteed to get one of the above players. Which totally makes me giddy at the thought of one of these stud prospects will be in Flames silks.

He may turn out to be the Best Player but take a look at what you are saying. BPA also includes A as in Available. This he may be for now until something happens, like as said he gets stuck on the third line, he gets homesick, he misses his girlfriend, the KHL leans on him, the coach is a meanie etc. I don't want another player calling the tune for how the Flames are run. We just went through that.

Anyone here the rumours today about the KHL preparing a massive offer to Malkin next summer? I'm not sure if he will go back but it's always a possibility as the KHL will always be tugging on these guys.

I think there is no reason Monahan is NOT going to be there at 6. The first 4 are almost written in stone. The wild card is carolina and I don't think they need another center. Between both Staal's, Skinner, Tlusty, Dalpe, Riley Nash, etc- it's safe to say they are pretty solid at the center ice position. Carolina is not re-building and wants to compete now. They need a second line RW to step in next year and I think Nichushkin can fill that role for them.
That all aside, my vote is for Nichushkin. Too much talent and upside too ignore- might be the best player out of the whole draft.

I think you are right that if Carolina picks at 5 they will take the Russian. I am not convinced they will be picking at 5. I could see Edmonton trading up to 5 to take Monahan. My buddy who is a leafs fan said he read that the leafs would like to trade up to the #5-6 position for Monahan. Craig Button also said that he believes a bunch of teams will try and trade up to #5 to get Monahan before the flames have a chance.

I can also see Calgary trading up the spot if they cannot work out a deal to go to four.

Leafs fans are a bit dillusional at times, so is their media as they figure that they are the center of the universe, everyone wants to play there, and they can trade for everyone and they have the resources, trade bait to do what ever they want. No offence to your friend, but I put very little stock into anything coming out of Toronto. I'm sure they would LIKE to trade up to 5-6, but they have very little to offer short of Kessel that would be enticing.
So in other words, all credibility was lost was when you said you heard this from a Toronto fan, lol. Not trying to be a jerk or nothing but..
I don't see Carolina taking Monahan, there's no need there for another centerman. Of course, anything could happen via trades etc, but I think the top 5 will remain that if everyone picks where they should be. And I can't speak for the other 5 teams ahead of us, but I believe the Flames are not trading #6 unless it's to go up.

Won't disagree with what you said about Toronto and my friend. I laughed also. However Craig Button on national TV was quite certain that many teams would have interest in the #5 spot to get Monahan. A couple of weeks ago i was not certain that Lindholm would be available at #6, now i am not certain Monahan will be around for #6 pick.

Button is a bit of a tool sometimes. Anything can happen. A for Edmonton moving up, it will cost them Yakupov and possibly their #7. Even Rutherford Carolina GM) said he is open to hearing over the top offers but it's unlikely anything will happen in terms of moving the pick. I think a lot of top 5 teams' GM's put that scenerio out there just to hear offers, but rarely does it come to fruition. It never hurts to fish or be open to business- however, it will come at a ridiculously high cost.

The CP collective has spoken. Sean Monahan will be selected by Calgary and Edmonton will be PMed to get the draft moving again.

This would have been a lot more exciting if you hadn't of taken Lindholm at 5 and ruined everything Tilley!

As someone in Carolina, who reads, watches, and hears Hurricanes related information (and a STH) I just don't see the 'Canes taking the Russian or a defenseman. Either Monahan or Lindholm would be a great choice, but with Lindholm being a right handed shooter and playing in the elite league last year with success, it wouldn't surprise me to see Lindholm selected by the Hurricanes.

I completely agree. Lindholm would be a great selection for them, I just hope he's there for us
