The implication of Campbell's statement is that the idiotic extra two minutes rule will be eliminated. I have no idea how you can argue that is a step in the direction of eliminating fighting.

At any rate, nice to see the NHLPA finally show the slightest shred of interest in player safety. They pretty much had to be dragged into this one kicking and screaming though, as the league has wanted mandatory visors for years now.

As far as the other rule changes go, hybrid icing is still a half assed solution that doesn't do much. Just catch up to the rest of the world already and go to no-touch.

Sad the trapezoid hasn't been marked for extinction.

even though i don't like the trapezoid look if they do remove it teams that play a trap or this win 2-1 BS will be even more boring being able to activate their goalie to play the puck on corner dump ins like what was occurring prior.
I am convinced scoring on average will drop.

Yes, because preventing the goaltender from going to the corner to pick up the puck and make an outlet pass to send his team's forward decreases offence.

Or maybe it is the thrilling moment when you get to watch a puck sit in the corner while the goalie helplessly waits as no skater is within 30 feet that excites you?

Back in Junior, I was leaning over the bench, talking to a teammate, not paying attention. a clearing attempt was tipped and smashed right into my visor. I had no idea it was coming. definitely wouldve been a serious injury. not once since then have i ever been against mandatory visors. If NLL players can wear full cages, NHL players can wear a visor.
