Well they provide a zoomable map so I don't think using the map counts as cheating.
I.e. if I know I'm in Mexico and I know there's a road sign of some highway number and reference to a town, I think it's ok to look for the road number on the map to find the town.

Yup, anything the game lets you do you can do, but if you have to open up a new tab you're cheating!

I got a shot of the Olympic stadium in Montral, and the location was 500km off the coast from the actual location. Lame.

I can't get over 20K without cheating or without repeats, that's my stretch goal this afternoon.
Argh 4 straight ones in the middle of Australia then one up in Lapland...

Fun game - the only thing bugging me is that there are a few countries you get all the time such Brazil, Mexico, Australia and New Zealand and others you never get. I've never had an African country, only one in Asia, none in the middle east and only a few in europe.

Uh... do you think Google Street View has covered much of Africa?

19457 without any cheating. Had to travel down the road to find some clues on a few, which almost gave me road rage when stuck behind some god damned RV for 20 clicks in Alaska.

20k for the first time.
I want to move to NZ. Just wow was all I could say about where they put me.
Don't think China would let streetview in. I've gotten South Africa a bunch with one in the Congo.
Not so much thailand or anything yet. And was on quite the Scandanavian streak last night. The worst so far was getting tossed into some back road in alaska that took 20 minutes just to get to any signs of human life.

9936 first try. It plopped me in a soccer stadium with German ads...I guessed it was Munich and I was right!

Well I was thinking SA, Morocco and maybe Egypt would be in there, and maybe they are I just haven't got them yet. After making that post I got Israel and a few more Asian countries so it is evening out some. I've had quite a few in Canada and also quite a few in the US.
Edit: And my best score with no cheating is 13840 - sometimes you just get totally screwed though - some of the maps let you scroll around forever and some don't move at all giving you next to nothing to go on.

Closest I've been is Kindersley, SK and Fernie, BC (not the town...right on the ski hill! I was also in the ocean once - that was a trip, but I guessed right!).

The closest I got to Calgary is three tiny little towns in Northern Montana and Eyebrow SK.

I got within sight of a Petro-Canada station on my first try, then next to a bunch of teepees with a Canada and Alberta flag right after. All were North America except Spain which I surprising got really close to. No Googling, where's the fun in that?
