Yup, and without a goalie of Kipper's level to keep them as close as the flames were in that series.

I suspect this one is over in 5

I thought that the Wings were better than the 'Hawks in the first...Smith's mistake in letting Sharp behind him at his offensive blueline and Cleary's bad choice on the backcheck let the 'Hawks escape with the 1-0 lead after one. Crawford has been spraying rebounds out in front and is fighting the puck some. Howard has barely been tested, but had no chance on the goal.

Kindl through a Brunner screen (it may have bounced off of Brunner)...1-1 now...

Carbomb now takes a STOOOPID penalty...many Chi fans see no reason even to dress the guy.

Perfect pass from Zetterberg to Smith for a weak side slam dunk...2-1 Wangs...

3-1 for the Wings. This has the makings of a long series.

Frandzen with a snipe...good stretch pass to spring him...the 'Hawks are fumbling passes, and playing quite listlessly...it has been a Detroit day all game.

Gotta hate Detroit, don't even deserve to be in the playoffs really.

I'll hate them a little less if they can make it to the Conference finals and improve our Blues pick by another spot.

Extremely sloppy play by Bolland not to cancel Zetterberg on a winnable faceoff leads to Fippula at the other end...4-1.

This one is a loss...I expect Q to make a few adjustments in game 3...Stalberg back to the lineup...Caricillo to sit, I bet...I wouldn't be surprised to see Mayers in for Handzus too...

At least there's going to be a 1-1 series. Don't want to see a bunch of 4 or 5 game series.

DET just seems like a team you don't want to give any confidence to in a series. They'll kill ya. This could make for an amazing series.

If Detroit and Pittsburgh play in the finals again I'll probably just eat Silica gel until I die.

Who plays C with Kane and Sharp if Handzus comes out?

I think the one weakness of the Hawks (other than G, I suppose) is their 2nd line C... had they upgraded that position at the deadline, they'd be much better positioned to win the Cup, I believe.

This game made me wish I had some emotional investment in this series. Fast paced and exciting hockey.

I would move Bolland back to the 2nd line...Stalberg/Shaw/Bickell were often the best 'Hawk line in Round 1...I would look for a Frolik/Kruger/Mayers 4th line

Last practice had these line Combos for Chicago:

Saad-Toews-Hossa
Sharp-Bolland-Kane
Bickell-Shaw-Stalberg
Frolik-Handzus-Kruger

So Stalberg for Caricillo and back to the regular season top 3 lines...

Foss, off topic but what are your thoughts on the Hawks retaining Bickell (especially) and Stalberg? I know the Oilers have a lot of interest when they become UFA's this summer.
