they did a simulation on the fan this morning, seeing how many times it would take for the Flames to get 1st overall. I believe it took 7 tries for Calgary to come up, but surprisingly Florida took 10 tries before they won. Notable, Colorado won 3 of those 10 tries.

Of course the Oilers website has a draft lottery simulator for anyone wanting to try it:

Flames win on my first try.

Mine too! The first 20 were just practice runs.
I'm taking this as a sign.

I just hit refresh 30 times and the flames did not win once. Florida won the most, and somehow Edmonton won the 2nd most. Even the Flyers won twice and the Peg won once.
Edit: went back and hit refresh one more time.....Flames win!!!!!

I actually got Dallas and then Phoenix on my first 2 tries. Then a bunch of Floridas and Nashvilles, with one Edmonto thrown it there.

If Bettman is rigging it, we should be a top 2 option for winner, because Edwards was Bettsie's right hand owner in the lockout. The other of course being Phoenix but what the hell do they need Seth Jones for, with OEL and Yandle going forward.

Can someone explain to me how you can draw 4 balls, numbered 1-14 and from that, get a 4 digit numer?
That makes no sense whatsoever.

My understanding is that they will announce teams in reverse order, starting at 5. If that is true, here is the bottom line for Flames fans:
They will either call Carolina or Nashville
68.7% chance they call Carolina - that means that one of the top 4 teams won. Flames draft 6th
If they call Nashville (31.3% chance), one of 3 things happens:
8.1% Carolina won - Flames draft 6th
6.2% Flames win the draft!!!
17.0% One of the teams below the Flames won and the Flames draft 7th
Assuming Nashville is called, from that point the odds are:
25.9% Carolina (6th)
19.8% Flames (1st)
54.3% someone else (7th)

No kidding, I was thinking the same thing. I'm no Stephen Hawking, but with 14 numbered balls, I would think the odds of any sequence of balls, in any order, would be equal.
Unless that is their way of saying "it's too complicated for us to explain, but according to advanced mathematics.....Phoenix wins!"
No, really, I'm not a conspiracy theorist. I'm betting it is just another inaccurate article.
