Can't see Duchene having a bad attitude, especially with the Avs. Kid was wired at draft day, has been a diehard Avs fan the majority of his life. I don't think he enjoys how much they've sucked this year...

When Colorado Avalanche centre Matt Duchene was asked about the missing Ryan O’Reilly Saturday he got a look on his face like he had just bitten into a three-day old sandwich that didn’t smell or taste so good.

“Do you talk to him much?” Duchene was asked.

“No, it’s not an issue,” said Duchene.

“We’ve got some guys with injuries we want to get back. They’re our priority right now.”

“The guy we’re worried about getting back is (captain Gabriel) Landeskog, a guy who’s on our team and has played with us this season, and is a big part of this hockey club. Guys like him and Erik Johnson (concussion for the defenceman) and Ryan Wilson (ankle), those are the guys we’re worried about. Landeskog is back skating (not with the team),” said Duchene

Sounds like Giguere had a case of the Mondays!

Do you know him or are you just going from what you see.

Not saying he isn't what you said, just was a strong defence of him.

Assuming the following: Giguere has raised his issues internally prior to this, and assuming he's busting his ass every day at practice etc... then I think this is totally accepatable move.

Not every player can pull this off, but a veteran like Giguere with a Stanley Cup ring is more than welcome in my books to send a message this way. I even respect the way he did it. Left names out, so that no one outside the team can know for sure who he's talking about, but the folks in the locker room know who they are. Good for him if he thinks his team mates are mailing it in.

I am sorry, what? I have no clue what trip Giguere is talking about, except it has to do with Vegas.

I am suggesting though that it is a big strech, even from Giguere, to suggest that because people have off season plans it means that have quit.

If he said it in the locker room the players have a chance to tell him what they are thinking, instead he said it to the media. It is a chump move, IMO.

Your quote makes no sense.

Are you being sarcastic? You have to know someone to know what they're about? Lay off the Schtick buddy.

Wow, settle down big boy.

It was a simple question. Your defence of him was strong and to the point, as if you knew him.

I was neither being sarcastic or Schtickie in my post.

It was a serious question.

Someone was asking specifically about what Duchesne said about O'Riley during O'Riley's holdout.

Doesn't sound like they mailed it in to me, Giguere just sounds pissed that he lost the game and decided to blame it on others rather than holding himself equally accountable.
It's been more than one game that the Avs have royally sucked for.

Yeah I know, so thanks for posting it. I just wouldn't jump to conclusions that Duchesne dislikes ROR, or even is a better overal human being as puckluck claims

When did "schtick" start getting capitalized?

Think the issue on the Avs is the veterans and coaching.

Statsny has not lived up to the contract, Erik Johnson never lived up to 1st overall pick status or what they gave up in the trade (Shattenkirk is the better player), and Sacco is a terrible coach who is probably two years past his expiry date.

O'Reilly has 14 points in 20 games and from what I've seen still plays that 200ft game.

I just hope this lights a fire under them and they put together a nice winning streak to end the season.

You made it sound like its ok because planning a trip to Vegas seemed like such a big deal. Just found it pretty funny thats all. What JS Giguere was probably commenting on was a few guys were probably just kidding around about going to Vegas in a month rather then focusing on the game; what you seem to think is they were planning out logistics like they were going to Mt Everest or something. Who has off season plans 2 months in advance to go to Vegas? Just found that funny thats all, no big deal.

The implication is that players are laughing and whooping it up after practice and games talking about their vacation plans for the offseason. On a team that has won one of its last 10 games.
