I wouldn't worry too much about a winning streak, Avs are far and away the worst team in the NHL and it could have gone either way

I never said the players should try to lose. Of course they are out there looking to win, as they should. And I love seeing the young kids out there....that was more exciting to watch than 90% of games the last 3 years.

For me though, a good chunk of my interest in this season now lies in the draft and the future. So yeah, Im shooting for a high draft pick. If that doesn't make me a real fan to some, whatever.

I do hate the ######ed "insight" that somehow we (we as fans, not as players) shouldn't hope the Flames end up last because there's a 75% chance we wont get the 1st draft pick. As if ending up 2nd last or higher will give you a better chance....

Not a chance. He's the bad parts of Sutter and Hartley combined... I want to see Patrick Roy coach them next year if only for the entertainment factor of Roy being an NHL head coach

Why? Picking 4th and missing out on Mackinnon/Drouin/Jones isn't the end of the world. After them there is still Bakarov, Lindholm and Monahan we could invest in. All centers, all with big upside. I wouldn't be happy picking outside of those three either but come on. There will still be great prospects on the board. Besides, not all drafts go the way TSN and NHL.com scouts them. One of those big three could slip to us. Try to think positive trout!

I'm glad to see the kids playing but I too will be disappointed if we don't get a Top 3 pick.

I would absolutely love to get Barkov if we miss out on MacKinnon/Drouin

He's going to be a great player imo. We can't lose in this draft.

JS Giguere erupted at his team's lack of focus tonight after Avs' latest loss. Quotes up soon

It is actually quite amazing that Sacco is still coach. Should have been fired 15 games ago. If there was ever a sign of a team intentionally tanking it is the fact Sacco is still their coach.

Then you could trade down, pick 4th or lower and get another asset.

I hope we land 2nd last. Florida's been playing better lately... so that hope is still alive. It just worries me to see Tampa and Carolina stinking it up all of a sudden now. But we need to win two games just to pass them, which looks pretty unlikely in itself.

The Avs and Jones were pretty much made for each other, so whatever, if they want to curl up into a ball to secure the kid then what can we do..

It was strange. As the horn went he just dropped his head and stayed slumped over for a few seconds; mates skated into the crease but nobody really did or said anything to him until he "came back up".

Odd.

Everyone talking about the Avs' talent and their lack of good coaching as being the reason why they're so bad. Maybe their forwards are highly over rated, they have no defencemen whatsoever and their goalies can't save a beach ball.... Maybe

Aside from that, Horak is an NHLer. It would be criminal to leave him out of the lineup next year. As far as I'm concerned, he deserves to be here more than Baertschi. That's not a knock on Sven, I thought he had a solid game tonight, but Horak is ready.

Well... the game was sort of boring but I'm happy for the win. Can't lose every game, nor should they.

Wes Gilbertson @SUNGilbertson
#Flames head coach Bob Hartley, 1 of 2: "All of our young players, they played really well. I'm really happy with the way they competed."

Wes Gilbertson @SUNGilbertsonHartley, continued: "I had asked them to play this game like it was a Stanley Cup playoff game, and they responded well."

Wes Gilbertson @SUNGilbertsonNo update on status of #Flames C Matt Stajan. Missed the final two periods against Avs due to upper-body injury.
