Feaster didn't have a job in the NHL after Tampa let him go.
Keenan din't have a job in the NHL since Calgary fired him go.
B. Sutter didn't have a job in the NHL since Calgary let him go.
Hartley didn't have a job in the NHL before Calgary hired him.
They are/were all terrible. And Darryl had to change job description to get back to the NHL. Terrible HR decisions all around.

an emergency call-up because of injury is not giving a guy a chance...Sven will be in the lineup when he is ready, no need to rush the guy
Not sold on Hartley yet either but I know Brent is not the coach for this team

So now, we're not making the playoffs, we're 2 points away from last place in the west. We've had to trade away our captain and one of our best D-men. And we see the leaders that remain sulking.
So with all that being said, I think that Brent is a good coach (given his pedigree and his results prior to Calgary), but the organization has moved on. Hartley is the coach let's see what he can do with the core that's left and the kids coming in.

Well Mr Tanguay, you and the team sure showed Brent didn't you? Got him fired, and got one of your buddies hired and had the shackles taken off, and now you guys are playing great, eh?
Hated his re-signing and every time I watch him I cringe, especially now that his only reason for being here is gone. Guy has no heart and is only a Stanley Cup champion because he was in the right place at the right time. The Avs knew he wasn't a core guy and got rid of him and he's done nothing but prove them right ever since.

All of these guys but Brent have Stanley Cups on their resumes. That's the furst sign of being terrible.
Calgary has been going for it since the last lockout and have run out of runway.
Under Keenan, he recognized the dynamics and coached the team considering his constraints and made the playoffs, which was the minimum first step to success. His outgoing year the team had too many injuries to key players that were insurmountable, and he got the best results out of the franchise player. He wasn't Iron Mike because that would not fly but figured out how to push the right buttons.
Under Feaster, the Flames went from cap jail to having 24 M in cap space the first year the cap ever goes down, and have 3 first rounders. They have some prospects now and greatly expanded scouting capabilities.
Brent I didn't care for in terms of philosophy.
It is too early to comment on Hartley. The d zone problems are similar to what was seen under Brent, not a product of differences in system. He has had worse pieces to work with in the key defensive roles. The offense is improved, but the roster has glaring holes in key roles and change takes time. He inherited a mentally fragile group. Ideally you want a training camp and a full season. Pretty crazy to declare a guy who has coached a Cup winner the worst coach the franchise has seen.

Here's the video in case anybody wants to see it:

Not anything juicy but he gives his thoughts on the state of the team.

The trajectory of this team over the last five years was entirely predictable. When you have more core players over 30 than under 28, that's what happens - you decline. And when you have a team that has demonstrated since Darryl Sutter stopped coaching that it will not consistently outwork its opponents, you shouldn't be surprised that it doesn't win when the going gets tough.
The fact people around here are still blaming Brent Sutter just shows that a lot of Flames fans are still delusional about this franchise. I don't think he was a great coach, but he didn't have a lot to work with, either in talent or in character.

Playing under Brent Sutter's system is what saved Tanguay's career. He played so poorly in tampa bay nobody but the flames offered him a contract and playing under Brent allowed him to salvage his career.
I suppose hockey players aren't known for being smart...shocking if it's true.
