There's no way we don't make any trades. If they stand pat I'm jumping off a bridge.

The fact that we haven't seen even a marginal move thus far with only a week left makes me feel as if the management is looking for any excuse not to move anyone. Granted it's possible that they're interested in moving Iginla first and the secondary pieces later, but I'm a little perplexed why more marginal guys like Begin, Jackman, etc haven't been moved for a 7th. Just seems odd if you're going to blow it up, not to take deals and get it over with.

Nobody wants the Flames garbage. Teams have their own 4th liners. Why part with an asset for Begin, Jackman etc? You're making it sound like its easy to move marginal players for draft picks.

I'm not arguing about that, just that you'd figure that you should see something happen by now from a team in our position in the standings.

If this team stands pat every single member of management needs to be shown the door.

I am not sure what they do but I hope they are extremely active and shop half the team while listening to offers on everyone

Grabovski is young enough to to help in a re-tooling. I would definitely like to see him in CGY. TOR player or not. He is entertaining to watch.

5.5M for a 50 point center under ideal circumstances? No thanks.
I wouldn't be surprised to see him bought out the summer after next, he's a decent 2nd line center who has been getting more playing time in a scoring role he deserves because of the center situation in Toronto. It's not far off from Stajan, except Stajan is making half as much and is playing very defensively sound right now.

Yep if they stand pat or become buyers its cya never for me. And with the Flames brutal management, that could be a real possibility.

he's been playing on a line with kulemin who has been brutal offensively the past couple of seasons and their line has been used as checkers quite a bit...says carlyle trusts him defensively.
and the trade was for cammi so one bad contract for another and one is a true center.

Starting to feel like we will be sitting here on deadline day waiting for the news, only for the Flames to hold a press conference saying they didn't like the offers they got.
The pessimist in me thinks they might trade Blair Jones for future considerations or something, or maybe Stempniak to the Predators for a 2nd and 4th kind of deal, but nothing like what we expect.

Don't see him as much different than Stajan during his time in Toronto. Not great depth placed them in positions that they wouldn't be on other teams, grabbing PP time when on contenders they wouldn't be seeing. Grabovski might be the better player, but that contract is terrible.
At least with Cammalleri his contract ends after next year. Worst case scenario is you ride him out until the next deadline, hoping he keeps up his offensive production, and trade him for a pick or two. With Grabovski, he's signed until 2017, has had his point production drop the last couple years now and could easily become an albatross of a contract for the next several years. I'd prefer staying away. Besides, what good does a 30 year old 2nd line center (at best) do for the Flames over the next couple seasons if they're completely rebuilding?
Grabovski's on pace for 33 points this year, could you imagine how big of goat someone like that would be if his production stayed that way and he was getting 6M a year for it?

No major moves made.
Flames management will be intellectually honest with themselves, realize the answers are in the room, and won't be fooled twice.
They may trade a late pick for some 4th line depth, and maybe shuffle some 4th liners around.
Other than that, Feaster will guarantee playoffs for the team this year!
